I have really enjoyed reading this thread. I am going to buy a new saw, and was considering a Stihl 362C-M for $749, which is a substantial $350 more than the Echo CS590 at $399. I see that they have the same power, and are basically the same weight. What separates the 362 from the 590 that it is almost double the price?

Dunno Stacks? Maybe just the name? ;)

I think it was a fluke Pete as i know the tip hit small stuff both times. Gonna make a point to get the 16in bar this week as i dont really like the 20in with what i do 99% of the time here in the woods.

I took the bar off and checked everything and couldnt find anything that would cause it.

Better build quality. Some parts of the 590 are downgraded from the 600P to make it fit that $399 price point. And Echo does not advertise their Hp specs so who knows what power it actually makes? They build three saws on that platform, all with the same displacement -- 59.8cc. The CS620 is going to be the most comparable to the MS362. Keep in mind that the CS590 is designed to compete with the Stihl MS291 and the Husqvarna 455/460 Rancher. It stacks up very favorably against those machines.

All are great saws but there are a LOT of great choices in the 60cc class right now, many of them significantly less than $600. If I was to pick the "best-buy" in 60cc right now, it would be the Dolmar 6100. I did get to run one of those and I was impressed with it's power, and AV. My second choice would most likely be the Husqvarna 555.

(Click on any one for a link to that saws spec page.)

    Echo CS590 ($400) (3.89 bHp) (59.8cc)
    Echo CS600 ($560) (?? bHp) (59.8cc)
    Dolmar 6100 ($590) (4.5 bHp) (61cc)
    Echo CS620 ($640) (?? bHp) (59.8cc)
    Husqvarna 555 ($640) (4.4 bHp) (59.8cc)
    Husqvarna 562XP ($740) (4.7 bHp) (59.8cc)
    Stihl MS362 ($740) (4.69 bHp) (59cc)

This is what I found. Not sure how it actually stacks up but against the others given the fact that echo produced this list. You made me curious lol.

Was talking to a guy at work today and he told me he bought a Echo CS590 last year and he loves it.. Has a Husky 372 (I think that's what he has) that he told me tends to throw the chain so he bought the Echo and says it can cut anything.. This guy is a pretty good mechanic and he couldn't figure out why it did this..

Trying to figure out when the last time I had these guys fired up and it looks like 2 months ago?:hair::D

The 2 Echo's started no problem but the wife's little green machine needed some tending to and they are all sitting idling nicely now. Gonna take the bike out and see how the woods are snow wise in a bit.

I even broke the parking blocks again! ( go through at least 10 a year lol..) the ground is hard too not muddy...... FB_IMG_14275778577874454.jpg FB_IMG_14275683464562210.jpg IMAG0458.jpg
