Alright I'm baffled now. I have deep cleaned the stove to perfection and it still smokes.... Is smoke normal in the cold for a pellet stove? Up until the cold hit it was totally smoke free and when the wind dies down its pretty much smoke free. Ideas?
Is it like a white smoke (condensate)? Or a dark colored smoke? I have only seen them smoke on start up. You have a very long external run of venting. The gases may be very cold by the time they reach the top and it's just water vapor?
I notice smoke coming out of my venting when it's below 10 degrees. I suspect it's mostly condensation. It's very noticeable when it's below zero, but not noticeable at all above 20.
I think you hit the nail on the head! Its butt blistering cold out today.... The smoke is dark and light on and off but the inside fire is perfect... No smoke in the box at all and the siding isn't stained from soot or smoke. I didn't even get much soot when I cleaned it so its burning clean... I used an air wand and blew. Everything out afterwards too and still didn't get much compared to the first time. Did the beer go down good fellas?
I've had some more colorful words to describe the temps this week than what you said, but for a family friendly site you hit the nail on the head. Clearing the driveway yesterday when it was 6 degrees with a 25 MPH northwest wind right in my face was brutal. I'm hearing double digits below zero for lows Monday or Tuesday. Uncle........
Ya snow blowing was terrible yesturday! I needed a torpedo heater mounted on my snowblower....... To top that off a raccoon tried to get in the basement and chewed a hole in the access door. I spent this morning crawling around under the house with an oil lamp thawing the pipes and filling the holes in....
