Looks like Beretta is proposing a new pistol to the DOD to replace the M9...the M9A3. I'm a huge Beretta fan and it looks pretty awesome

Biggest plus for me is the dovetailed sights and easily convertible to a "G" model (decocker only). Color is nice too

Beretta makes great firearms. I have the 92F stainless.
This would make a nice addition to the collection.
PS: I have a firearm addiction too :rootintootin:

Wish the 92 fit my hand, always liked that thing.
I picked up a .25 and a .380 for my folks, figured they should have one at least. I'm still waiting for mine. JB- (John Beretta)

The 92's are a little large for concealed carry, but are accurate and reliable.
Another plus...9mm is pretty easy to find, 380's are not

Those do look nice. My brother has a Beretta shotgun. I forgot what model he has though. I never did get a chance to shoot that thing yet.:(

I've always wanted a G-SD. This may be my ticket in lieu of such unobtainium.

I like it! A 92F is on my short list of handguns to get. After shooting one I fell in love, there aren't many centerfire handguns that I've shot as well as that Beretta.

They are some nice looking guns. Looks are similar to the Taurus PT series of the late 80's.
How many moolas for that gun in the first pic?

That'd be because the Taurus PT92 series is based on the Beretta 92 series. Taurus bought the Beretta plant in Brazil that was built for a contract with the Brazilian army.

Details on price yet. Supposedly, Beretta has stated that it will be cheaper for the .gov than the M9, but who knows what the street price will be

Looks like it was rejected :(

    http://m.military.com/daily-news/2015/01/09/army-rejects-m9a3-proposal-opts-for-new-pistol.html

It seems like the reason was that they didn't address the slide mounted safety, so we may see a new version with a frame safety. I can't for the life of me understand why so many people have trouble with the beretta safety, but whatever

Now we get to go through a huge taxpayer funded series of trials for other manufacturers

Anyways, hopefully this pistol will still make it's way to the civilian market :D

I really like it as a lefty. Very easy to engage and disengage with my thumb. I hear tons of people complain about it being too easy to accidentally engage, but to me that's ridiculous. Blaming the weapons design for poor familiarity with the system and poor handling skills is beyond absurd. Heck, I've never "accidentally" flipped the safety on, even when I started shooting 92s. I think it's a fantastic system for a service pistol, and if you really can't live with the safety, convert it to a G model (decocker only)
