Ok so Scotty brought this up and we need to discuss location and timing if we want to do another G2G. Last year was a great time and we had it at my place in NE OH. Dex also had a smaller event later in the year that was put together last minute but was a lot of fun. He has a great place and I have another 5 acres that we could use this year as well. We need some input from other members also that would be willing to host and input for what area we should have the G2G. Might not be a bad idea to set up a few, maybe one more east and west from the last one. I am more than wiling to travel for a day or two. My schedule is a little easier to adjust but I know many need to schedule vacation in advance so let's hear some ideas.

We have been discussing having an Iowa g2g with all of the new Iowa and Nebraska members popping up. Not sure if we could incorporate that into our big g2g.

.... I'd really like to meet you guys. If I'm not already committed to the weekend I'd be game for anything in Pa. With a little notice it's pretty easy for me to get time off at work so northeast Ohio would just be a long weekend from my parents house east of Erie. Michigan or west my wife might want to go and we'd make a little vacation out of it so long as we're free that week.

Hopefully it pans out because it looks like a blast!

I am still planning a G2G in Sept. I have 300 acres and am almost next to an interstate. I let the thread die since we were a year out, and wasn't going to revive it till the spring although Scotty and Dex still know of my plans.

An East coast G2G would be great. I could probably host Ive got the room for people to camp out and could throw some sleeping bags on the floor only problem is I dont have any trees to cut down:emb: I do know of a place right down the road from me that we might could go and cut down a bunch of trees I would have to talk to the people that own the property. I wish I could make it out to Ohio but I dont see that in the cards right now.

I'd seriously consider an east coast gathering. A days worth of driving would get me to upstate NY, NH, ME, RI, CT and all of Mass. Would definitely need some dates to block out some time off. Maybe bring raybonz with me.

The members map can be helpful to locate a central location by region. Anywhere New England, N.Y. and possibly PA. I'd chip in some jingle for a log delivery or send a giveaway prize if needed. I don't have any sweet saws, but I can cook.

From what I've learned about G2G is cutting down trees and making firewood is not the big hit. Most people just want a log or cant set up and cut cookies, test saws, race ect.

If wood production is the goal, then a charity cut type event would fit the bill. You need a cause and a source of wood, plus some kick azz equipment to keep the work enjoyable for all.

Hedgerow, Oliver1655 , sam-tip might be able to chime in here if that's the type of event we seriously want to organize.

I see that kind of event having two distinct crews, production crew and a galley crew!

Sam-tip and Mrs sam-tip will be having another charity cut in the spring. No date yet but thinking mid early May. Just west of Des Moines Iowa and just off Interstate 80. Property (7 acres) backs up to Interstate. Once weather turns warm we will be hauling in many Ash logs and other logs (EAB). Just got a larger conveyer to help make the stack even bigger 60ft. Last year we did 16.5 cord in the spring and 14.5 cord in the fall. Only have 10 cord left and going fast.

The Missouri crew is having another cut Jan 24th near Springfield MO. Plus a few others throughout the spring. Hope to get down there once they get warmer weather. Don't like the cold and shorter days.

PS Just returned from delivering two loads of charity cut wood. The wood was much appreciated.

I have thought and considered a few things about this over the last few days since seeing this thread.

As far as a G2G goes. I can't do it here. Nor can I go to one. I am just swamped with things to do between my family, spending time with my parents, work, and property. Parents take priority right now. They are both now 80 years old and I need to spend as much time with them as I can. I know all of us have life like this to live. And I don't know how some of you guys even get away. But that is where I am at now and probably will be for a while.

Anyway. I have thought that maybe some of our members here at FHC might be interested in doing something for our veterans. I am not a veteran. But I really, truly appreciate all who are currently and/or have served our country. Thank you to our men and women who are serving or have served our country. And many now could use our help.

I see Trace Adkins on the TV for a good cause. The Wounded Warrior Project. Maybe we could do something for that organization. A donation in the name of the FHC? Something done in coordination with the G2G? I am just throwing this out there. It does not necessarily have to be done in coordination with the G2G. But could be. I do not know what would be best. Just something for you good folks to think about. I would be willing to chip in for a donation. If a good portion of our members chipped in we could make a difference, like they have for their country. We could promote the donation on the site for a good number of months. I think, no I know we could do something great with it.

I think thats a great idea and I would definitely be willing to make a donation whether I make it a G2G or not.
