Im in the market for a new cell phone and am a little overwhelmed with all the choices out there. My current phone was an easy pick because it was free but now I have to buy one and am wondering what yall might recommend. I am with Verizon and use my phone for phone calls, texting, FHC, reading (Nook), music and playing stupid games that Ive downloaded.

Which is the most important: screen size, battery life, or being an iPhone?

The Casio Gz one is a waterproof rugged beast...but SLOW. Great for construction ...pain to surf the net on.

Just switched from a Nexus 5 to a galaxy S5 Sport and hate the samsung. It comes with so much bloatware its ridiculous. It's also not on lollipop. I really wish I had just invested in a new screen assembly.

That said, the screen is just a bit taller on the s5, though its just a wee bit big for one hand use. It is said to have water and dust resistance too. I'll admit the remote on the S5 is pretty cool too.

Get the Motorola moto x. You can even get one of 3 type of real wood backs on it. I got the teak wood backed one. It's super fast, does so much that it's scary, responds via your voice, and I think Verizon has it free now with a new contract. It's splash resistant too, has great forward facing speakers as well. There is pretty much no better phone out there now. It's 5.2" screen is just the right size. Not too big, but great for surfing on. The Sony xperia z3 is really nice too, ip67 waterproof, and it's on vzw too. But, there no wood on it, speakers are not as nice as the moto x, but the camera is the best on a smart phone. I've got att, so the don't want an option as id have to bought one unlocked at 500.

I have had good luck with both the motox and the galaxy S4. The motox isn't water proof though and doesn't hold up to swimming i

In not a fan of all the bloatware on Samsung's. If you want the fastest most pure android experience, get the moto x.
Did I mention it's available with real wood on the back? Black walnut, teak, bamboo, and I think ebony....

Did you have the moto x 2013? I'm guessing so. The new moto x 2014 just came out in fall. Really no phone even if ip67 rated waterproof should be taken swimming. I have a friend who had a s5 that is water proof get shorted out in under 15 minutes in less than 2ft of water.
I'm a water skier / wakeboarder and am in the water all summer. I still went with the moto x despite it not being fully waterproof, because all the features it has that no other phone does.

I just upgraded to the new Motorola Droid Turbo. I seems to have super battery life and is loaded with features.
Probably has the best camera available at 21mp

I'm on a LG G3 now. I like it better than the wife's S5 but the battery is a little undersized. Had Motorola's before all the way back to the star tac but I wanted a sd card slot & they've drop that feature now.

The droid turbo is basically a little bigger version of the moto x 2014. Same camera, bigger battery, but bigger screen eats more battery and lacks the voice control of the x. Good phone though.

Thought about the g3, nice screen, but eats battery even with a bigger battery, and no voice controls like the moto x. No other phone has the voice/ predictive functions the moto x has. I had a SD card on my moto atrix that I retired after 4 years. Never used the extra space even with all my rhapsody music, HD vids and pics I had on it. Now there the cloud, and more stage isn't necessary. If you need more, you can plug in a stick.

But, the nice thing is there's a ton of options with phones. ( but I still say that he moto x 2014 is the best phone available, and I'm not the only one saying this)

I'm kind of a phone geek. I spent like 3 months determining what phone to get, studied every one of and upcoming. But when you get nearly 4 years, April 2011- Nov 2014, out of the old one, I wanted to make the right choice for the next 2 years.

No cloud here that doesn't take $. Never have been a fan of voice control makes me feel like I'm talking to myself. I find the sd card makes switching phones a breeze. All my music, pics and downloads move to the new device without needing a pc. But that's what I wanted/needed.

Google transfers most of the stuff, like contacts. But this moto used a motorola service/ app and that can transfer the rest if you want. I just hooked up to the PC, and saved bids/ pics there. Att has free cloud storage if you have them, google does too. No need to pay for cloud storage. The moto x does other stuff not voice related that's pretty cool, and useful to me. It knows when I'm driving, reads me texts, knows to be silent when I sleep, and in meetings. All sorts of stuff that no other phone does, yet. Some do some of those things, but not all.

Nope, stock. Its att, so still on KitKat. Lollipop due any day now for att's x. But the way the x is, lollipop mainly adds more run time to the battery as its more efficient.
