Hello and welcome jerseygirl. Never head of Vulcan pellets before now. Let us know what else you find in your area. Will be glad to provide feedback if we have used them.

    Welcome to FHC jerseygirl

Easy Heats are the worst pellet out of the over 2 brands I have tried. Stick with what some of the other have suggested. .

All pellets are not created equal and sometimes a higher priced pellet is well worth it :)

What stove ate you running and what type of square footage are you trying to heat? And is this pellet stove your Primary heat? Or just supplemental?

Good morning, and thanks for all the information. I have a Harmon Accentra 52i. We are using it as a supplemental heating source for our familyroom which is a draft magnet. I took the advise of some of the folks and decided not to go with the Vulcan pellets. Went out to Bucks pellets (real nice folks) and purchased a few bags of three different pellets to try out. The first bag I tried yesterday was the Okanagan Gold softwood, it burned very clean but the heat output really wasn't much better than the EZ heat I had been using. This morning I put a bag if Forest pride which is a mix of hardwood and soft wood, and so far so good, it seems to be burning hotter. I'll have to see how much ash is in the pot after the full bag runs out. The third brand I will try is Dry Creek which is a hardwood.

J-G......The 52i is a darn good unit, should be able to pretty much burn whatever you throw at it, but you will likely see differences in pellets, heat-wise and ash-wise. Also, and I am sure you know this, but, the cleaner your heat exchanger is, the more heat you'll get! Happy burning!

Now you have me pulling out the owners manual to see what the heat exchanger is :)

I'm sorry...which pellets are you referring to? I just read the cleaning instructions you provided (thank you). Is it idiot proof, because I am not too handy :). I am close to Phillipsburg, do you know someone who does pellet stove cleanings? I may just have someone else tackle it. Thanks

Is the heat exchanger the two metal slats on the side of the cast iron medallion?

I don't know what brand they have in stock they get all different kinds in , a call to the store might get that answer .

The dealer you got the stove from should offer a cleaning service if you're not comfortable doing it yourself ,but it's gonna cost $150 +

Ok, one more question I swear...do I have to pull the insert out to clean the heat exchanger or can that be done without pulling it forward?

You can ask as many ?? as you want :D I don't type real fast so my answers maybe slow in coming .
You don't have to pull the stove out to do the exchanger and burn pot areas .
