A guy I know needs a new saw. He wants to spend between $400-$500. The saw should be in he 50cc range with an "18 bar. He mainly cuts logs that he gets delivered and he cuts some smaller trees down.
    What do you suggest?

Husqvarna 545 for sure. Will fit in that budget no prob. Others to consider? Husq 455/460 Rancher Stihl MS291, Echo CS590, all are heavier, more powerful saws so he might consider them if the wood is consistently 16"-20". If he get the occasional 16"+ log with the majority of them being 12" or less, then I would lean heavily towards the 545.

Im with these guys. I have a Husky 545 with a 16 inch bar... And its a very nice low 50cc saw that i highly recommend for 16 inch and under. :)
The other suggestion as these guys say is a Echo 590 Timberwolf. Ive yet to hear a bad thing about it ! It would handle the bigger stuff with more ease than the 545 for sure ! It would make a great one saw plan !!!

That's good, but the MS170 isn't enough saw that I would consider using it over something like a 545 unless I was cutting very small limbs (<2") exclusively.
