The cold is finally here. Down to 5 or so overnight tonight. -15 tomorrow night overnight. And the stove is eating through the pellets pretty quick now. All the windows in the camp make it tougher to heat when it starts getting really cold. So I have the stove on 6-6 for the next few days while it is staying cold. There is a little wind as well. Anywho, the softwood pellets seem to do pretty well. But I am getting more clogged up pots full of the "trinkets" than I would like. So I try to clean it a little more often. I have tried to adjust the low air burn up another notch to see if that leads to less of those? I am hoping the slightly higher setting of air will make a difference. We will see what it is like tomorrow. Tonight it was 16 when I went down there and it was 55 inside. Little warmer than I need it, but that is okay.
That ain't right Alan. It is right at 0 degrees right now and the wind won't stop blowing. Wind chill is too much. No outside work today.
I worked outside today but the sun was out and tried to stay out of the wind and every hour or so got inside for a few mins.
I worked inside today and froze(not much heat in the back room). Couldn't imagine being out in this. I need a smoothie and a kick on the side. I'm right about 2 bags a day in these temps. A small price to pay to be toasty warm!1 All them pellet guys like Douglas Middleton always love it when we get these temps.
bag and a half here. newer, tighter house. heating 1st and 2nd floor(2000 sq ft). basement hangs at 55 regardless of outside temps, unless I fire up the Avalon down there.
Burn baby burn..... I have to admit, when ALL of NE is burning on average 2-3 bags per day, makes me a happy guy...even if you aren't burning my brand...somebody is....so keep burning...I'll make more.....
Last couple a days have been 2 baggers, Should be about 1 1/2 for the next few. I see some mid 30's coming next week which should be back to about a bag a day. Probably switch back to the MWP and save the chow's for the next cold spell.
I've been leaving my stove on 6-6 the last few days with these temperatures. Been going through a bag a day maybe a little more. I need to shut it down tonight or tomorrow morning and do a good cleaning. It has been running nicely on this setting. I also bumped the lower burn air up one notch the other day. It does seem to go a longer time with out a pot build up of clinkers. So I will leave it there for now.
Does anyone run the same pellet stove as I do on the site? I can't remember. C.R.S. It's a SummersHeat 2000 Sq.Ft. PelletStove - 55-SHPAH.
Going through them here, but we are warm. Nice to set by the stove, wide screen TV, and pets at our side. Good cup of coffee, PJs and we are good. We don't go out unless it is necessasry. Light snow here now, very cold out.
