I remember when I was a little boy. It was easy to tell who burned coal because of all the black snow.

Well got a buddy that is gonna sell me a cheap pickup load. I know its seasoned because I help cut some of it ( shouldof kept more than half lol). That mixed with my "not so seasoned" should get me through.

Does your buddy have a lot of wood? If so, perhaps you can offer a trade of seasoned for green - and sweeten the deal quite a bit for him to do it - more green for the seasoned, cut/split/stack for him, etc. Good luck - we all know it's a tough spot to be in, but it's a good learning experience. Woods are still clear here - keep cuttin'! Cheers!

The ones called overnight logs are NEIL's, I have a few, I usually buy a small batch every year.

Here in Ohio near Cleveland there's a fine if you haul ash trees. Something about a beatle as well.

My supplier finally dropped off a cord of seasoned wood. It looks better than the stuff I've been burning. Another week and a half before I'm out in the house. This will be going into the rack on the deck and the other rack in the yard. Most if not all should be off the ground. If not, I do have 8 pallets I picked up free for another project.

    Hey boettg33,
Cut those pallets up and bring 'em inside near the fire! Had a terrible shine in the flue last year tryin to get by on them! Unless you can see visible checked ends.... Even so, get 'em dried out.

Ive still got about a cord left, but am very reluctant to use it. I've bought half a ton of seasoned from BiL for £20 to last me a wee while longer.
BUT I'm also using smokeless coal, and will do so until I have enough built up in wood reserves (no woodland of my own). damm sight cheaper than paying my gas bill.
    Needs must, my friend :D

I am working my way through the cord he dropped. One rack is full, and going to fill the other tomorrow. I am still on the lookout for BIO-bricks. So far no one anywhere close has them. Tonight I emailed a place about 35 minutes away to see if they have the Hot Bricks.

I've considered this. That will be my last resort.
