Well I've got to rant for a little bit here. Two months ago I applied for a gov job. Let me say it's my dream job! I am currently working as a maint. Tech at our local school. I Finished all requirements for this gov position and have yet not gotten a start date! I am getting completely frustrated. It doesn't help that at my current job they are wanting to change my hours. This change would make it so I would not see my wife and three kids until sat morning. I am not willing to give up my family. I hope that I get a start date this week because I am ready to start telling the uppers what I really think. Some people just don't know how to treat people anymore.
Any way just had to rant a little!

Did you get the job you applied for and just haven't gotten a start date, or you haven't heard anything at all? Is there anyone you can call to ask about this?

I did get the job I just have not gotten a start date yet. My wife works for homeland security and says that this is SOP. I've got a lot years of military service and I'm just not used to waiting I guess.

Nope. It's all in the hands of the Corps main HR office. It's funny that the job is out of Nebraska and the head HR office is in Arizona.

mj_deere, this is only my advice but it doesn't matter much how they are treating you when it comes to the end. The worst thing you can do is to tell them what you think when you are not happy. This could come back to haunt you is strange ways. I know several times when I was hiring help and during a routine check something came up about some words when the employee was leaving. And one thing I always asked when researching was at the end, the very last question was always, "Would you hire this person again?" That is when the real truth really came out.

So you hurt or are angry about how you were treated. Many suffer the same thing. So long as no physical harm was done, let it ride and hold no grudges. Those grudges will hurt only one person and that will be you. Better to pass it off as a lesson learned and look forward to the more positive.

My years of military service taught me "hurry up and wait." Congratulations on the new position, be patient and everything will come together soon enough.
