Well I was on vacation last week but called in Mon, Tues and Wed. At least I had Thursday and Friday off as now I still have 6 unused vacation days from last year  We have a use 'em or lose 'em policy but since I am the one that keeps track of the vacation days, the year somehow extends itself

Heck Its bad enough to be salary, I am not losing my vacation days any longer like use to. The owner doesn't mind as it helps him make $$ when I come in........

They don't go out when the ground is covered in snow and ice so that wouldn't work.

Normally I only break them on the first snow storm that I use the snow blower on, but since the driveway didn't stay snow covered and it is gravel and good sized it was a given I'd loose at least one today.

I have a supply of shear pins in the garage just in case.

Similar here on early and late season breakage even though the driveway is paved-near the road can be brutal with rocks until everything freezes. Also, the state decided to drag the culvert with a side blade off of a large grader a few weeks ago during the big rain storm and really screwed things up in the process: especially around my mailbox. I had no idea what big rocks I was going to uncover near the road today after the first plow since then. There were some in my path but non caught my augers before I stopped them.

That culvert will need to be re-dragged properly in the spring.

My son came up with his ATV and plowed out the snow and ice. Then he cleaned on the walk and brought in more pellets. I didn't get a call from him on my birthday, but he was right up here cleaning me out of my mess. I have a big snow thrower, but he prefers bringing up his ATV.
Wife and I still not up to doing anything but taking care of the pets and sitting in the recliners.

WP_20150105_16_20_44_Pro.jpg Got one of these today.
This one comes with the vacuum tube that is about 4' long and conical shaped so when I stuff it over a 4" pipe it slides on about 18" and is a nice tight fit. I may need to shorten the tube about 12" or add an adaptor piece to it but I think it may work as is for most situations. Woohoo! I'll post pics when I get to use it.

A 3" to 4" drain tile reducer adapter should be all you need to connect to 3" venting.

Pretty much every stove that gets installed around here uses 4" venting due to elevation but I'll pick one up just in case. Thanks Smoke

This is the tube (leaf blower upside down), and those are two 4" x 12" sections attached to each other. The vacuum tube it comes with is actually a two part thing that snaps together so I might fashion something to fit the end of the first section to go around the 4" pipe. Right out of the box the first connector piece is the exact same outer diameter as the outer diameter of the 4" pellet vent. I'll see what happens when I try it out. Can't wait!

I think I'm going to clean my bosses stove tomorrow just to test it out.

I'm planning on getting pics of the whole process etc. including disconnecting the vac switch so people can get a little bit clearer idea of how it's done etc.

    What a brilliant trick!

I need to open the window up tomorrow for a bit. Went to crank the stove up higher tonight, it has not been over level 2 so far, and man does it stink. I guess a new heat level, and any dust or whatever needs to burn off. Do you guys get any smell each time you go up in heat level? Normally on setting 2 I can touch the stove and pipe, but as soon as I go up one more level, everything is too hot to touch.
