Thanks Pete! The manual splitter was hard to find around here. It works just fine and also is "safe" enough for the kids to enjoy.

The only thing I would really like to change is to have one of those bad-azz Stihl chainsaws. It's a bit overpowered for my purpose but that's surely not a bad thing:rootintootin:

    Howdy.
    New member.
    I sawmill/kiln dry/flooring/furniture for indoor and outdoor since 1982.
Retired US Army 21yrs 4mo 7days. Airborne Parachute Rigger / CH47 Chinook Pilot.
I use a wood fired water heater (taylor) to heat lumber kiln/wood shop/furniture showroom/ my wife's dog grooming shops bath water/well box/1890 house/aquaponics fish tanks/green house.
I go through about 30 cord per yr but would like to have 40 cord per yr.
I have been wrestling a chainsaw and lugging it up to a single wedge hyd splitter.
The first week in Jan. we take delivery of a firewood processor (dyna SC12XP).
Were in N. central Tn. in an 1890 all wood (t/g walls ceiling, no plaster and lath) farm house. I've metal detected all around and under the house no mason jars.

Hello from NorthEast Kansas. Lurked here for a while before joining.
15 years and counting in the Army National Guard, 10 years of which have been active duty.
Have been cutting wood most of my life. During high school and college, I cut to sell and a little for the family to offset the furnace on cold days. Now I cut for my house, right now just have an insert, but planning on installing an OWB in the future(when current furnace needs replaced).
Have always run Stihl saws- started with grandpa's 041 farmboss(wish I still had that saw), then an 026(tractor ran over that one), 038, then 044MAG, MS 170, MS 290, an just picked up a 029.

Been hanging around chainsaw forums for a few years, just found you folks. Saw you mentioned in the Chitty Avatar Donation benefit so thought I'd check in and see what's happening here. Thanks to all who participated in the benefit auction.

I've been here a week or so after finding firewoodhoardersclube TV channel on Roku. I'm glad to be here and I've already learned a lot, and I'm an old guy. I burn ponderosa pine, pinion pine, alligator juniper, hard cedar, and some aspen in a Lopi Endeavor located in the Jemez mountains in northern NM. :)

I'll work on that and post 'em as I take 'em. My current stack will probably be gone by March, so this spring I will get on a 5 year plan and should have lots of pics of truck loads of logs. And anything I can find this winter. :ithappened:

Hi all... firewood hoarder in training here. Just using a Napoleon 1402 insert to off set LP furnace in old farm house. Got into wood cutting when I started dating my wife, her family has been 100% wood heat for many years. When we bought our house it had an old wood stove in front of the fire place, so we removed it and installed the insert. It does a great job heating the main floor, but hope to add an OWB in the next few years. Just picked up a MS362RCM on AS to use with my 028 WB and a 017/MS170 frakinsaw...here are a few pics... 20141101_152427.jpg 20141112_102420.jpg 20150109_092939.jpg

Welcome FarmHand78 With a mound of wood like that I don't think I'd say that you are a hoarder in training.

Wish that mound was all mine... I got a cord out of it for helping my father in law feed the Blockbuster processor. That's a 3 year mound for is Central Boiler. 20141101_080939.jpg

Just found this forum, never knew such a thing existed. I thought I was the only one who has a mild obsession with firewood. I am at work right now wishing I was in the woods cutting and splitting. There is something very satisfying about a pile of freshly cut wood. Can't explain it, don't try to. Just get out whenever I can to feed the obsession.
