Yuk! Rain is really coming down right now. Only 28, not good. Trees bending more so...... Time to plow this chit up so everything is nice and clean when it starts melting. Layer of ice on everything. How you doing there thewoodlands ?
Our Radio Shack Special is on the blink so from being outside a bit, it looks like we're above freezing but it is raining real good Gasifier . We're still burning Cherry, I was going to switch over to Beech yesterday after talking with the Sav but the temp kept going up outside so we'll SAVe the Beech for this week.
21 this morning. Guess this storm front moved to the east. Still burning lodge pole found a couple of aspen splits poof. Stay safe, warm and watch for ice.
Same here. Its -8 now but the sun is out and not a cloud in the sky. I think mother nature is confused.
Ice all over everything. But it's warming up quick. 32 right now. I hope it gets up to that 45 they said yesterday. Get rid of all this ice. I think we did get lucky though. It isn't too much ice. The trees are not breaking
I take it your not in the area that received an inch of ice. http://northcountrynow.com/news/haz...-rain-expected-throuhgout-day-st-lawrence-cou
I know we didn't get an inch. But it is still raining right now and unfortunately still freezing on! It's right at 31-32 right now. Several tree branches have snapped and dropped off the White Pine. They seem to collect the ice the fastest with their long needles. I wish it would warm up faster.
Same here Gas and everything is a mess. Just got in from trying to plow with the tractor but the tyrod broke and no pictures as it was a chitshow with me and my buddy trying to get it into his garage.
43* outside. Still burning oil in the furnace, shopping around for a stove and CSSing firewood for when the stove is finally installed.
Dam. Temp here on my phone says Ogdensburg is 32. Wish it would warm up before this wind starts. If it doesn't we will be without power. We just watch a big branch break and fall down the hill from the camp.
If you need more broken off pine branches, we still have a chit load from Dec. 2013 ice storm. I actually had planned on burning them this winter but something always comes up.
We're at 39.9 on the Radio Shack Special so I finally started a fire in the Liberty with some Cherry. The colder weather starts tomorrow so we'll make the switch to Beech and Ironwood.
21f here right now, headed for -2f tonight and high of 0 with a -25 wind chill tomorrow. Just fired up Lil Brother. I'm sure they will both get exercised well this week. Diet of Hard Maple, Beech and Red Oak.
Got very windy a few hours ago. Blew large chunks of ice off the trees...sounded like giant hail hitting the house. Many of the chunks were over an inch in diameter...kept up for quire a while. Decided to be sensible and stay inside, but was anxious for the wind to stop or all the ice to be off the trees, because the car had a good layer of ice on top of about four inches of snow....wanted to get that off and the doors open while the temps were milder, before the deep freeze sets in tonight. Have just come in from clearing that and the porch and steps. It is slippery out and is going to be awful once the temps plummet tonight. Glad most of the ice is off the trees. Good to get the wind when it was mild.... On a cheery note, was at the border yesterday. Put the back window down so the guard could see in...and it wouldn't go back up. So I drove home on 401 and 15 with the window wide open in an almost whiteout snowstorm. Would happen on a Saturday afternoon at the beginning of the worst weather week of the winter.....
