Cold this morning. Kubota started nicely though. I forgot to get a picture of the larger log I cut yesterday. I will do that and add it later. I started collecting some of the rounds this morning. It was 3 out when I first got up. Chilly, but with the Carhartt overalls on I'm warm. A break for daughter's basketball game.
Here are a few of the logs, the small one had a little rot at one end so so I cut part of it up for firewood. I was able to save 9-10 feet of the 16.
When the temperature gets that low, I can easily find other work to do inside. You need a cab and heater on that tractor if you plan on doing much at those temperatures.
Gas is a busy guy, I'm sure he keeps his body and all his limbs going to keep that hot blood circulating...
I had a cab with heat on the Bobcat TLB I sold. It was nice, sometimes. Especially if windy. But more often I find I like not having a cab. Better visibility, nothing to fog up. Now that I have the plow on the pick up truck especially! LOL. No snow plowing with the machinery unless i have to move some banks back. I have a good amount of clothing. And I really don't spend that much time on the tractor when doing wood cutting. I find I spend about 5-10% of my time on tractor and 90-95% of my time on the ground felling, liming, bucking, and loading. Most of that time, even at these temps, I get hot and have to take the hat off and unbutton a few things for a bit to cool down. Luckily there was no wind or a little breeze. Or I would have gone in. The snow has started again. Second time today.
Wait. I just liked your post. I don't like -48 below real feel. I'm okay with the -24 below for several days this winter. I'll even take -34 below to kill us some bugs! But I draw the line with the wind on any of those temps! I'm now un-liking your post. Take no offense! LOFL
I don't mind the cold too much as long as it isn't windy. I got an early start this morning and things just didn't work out getting any firewood work done.
-24° is serious cold. Break out the bunny boots & masks for a trip to the wood stack ! Hope there's snow on the ground so the frost don't go to deep.
Funny you say that Dave. We got more snow last night. But it is suppose to warm up to 45º today and there is a 100% chance or rain/freezing rain. So most of it will probably be gone today if it makes it that warm.
