$239/ton and up here in the land of plenty. Don't have a pellet stove so I don't pay attention to price per brand but I follow the market as a raw material supplier to the industry
HD in Warwick RI was $5.59 for Fireside Ultras just a few days ago. I tried 2 bags, "no heat", hated them. ?? on second thought, might of been $5.19........ and they still sucked.
Really I know they are highly rated on this forum , I burned some last season with no issues, but every ones stove and setup is different like we say your mileage may vary
I had a real bad time with them as well. They burned as if the stove could not supply sufficient combustion air for them, and they produced the worst clinker I've seen. They were so bad, I went out of my way to scoop the last bag right back out of the hopper. I still have 2 bags left, saving those for IHP and Birddog to try and see if they get similar results, or if it's just my stove that does badly with them.
I've gotten that impression as well. I haven't gotten any clinkers but these turn the inside of my stove black. My OAK is from my Englander and is on the small side so I always attributed it to that. Maybe it's the pellets after all.
To bad there aren't any down here so Steve could test them Might be a bad batch that's why we say always try a few before you buy tons
11 degrees and the wind is howling outside with gusts to 40, 72 inside on heat level 3.5. No complaints. I have about 1 pound left in the hopper before I switch to Blazers for the rest of the week. -13 forecasted for Wednesday night.
It's going to be super cold here for the next 10 days or so as well, they are predicting -5 for Wed night. I see some douglas fir fuel burning in the very near future.
OK here is the million dollar question as I do not have a Harman. I have control of my air flow via a damper system and always adjust it based on conditions: flame, wind etc. (my stove goes up my exsisting fireplace chimney). Do you all have damper controls?
