Freezing rain forecasted for tonight and an all day soaker for tomorrow. Trying to decide what to do tomorrow since the boss is pretty adamant she doesn't want me making a mess in her house until after Wednesday next week. After than I'm tearing out the carpet, subfloor in the dining room, and cutting door jambs to get ready for flooring.

My BIL just called and told me he's going to be shutting off the water to our neighborhood sometime today so he can fix a leak (he's the "water guy" for our co-op). Hope that doesn't take too long.

Covering the bed of my pickup today with plywood, I guess. Not going to go thru yet another year of digging snow/ice out of the back. I like having the back open and available. Got all hoardey once about buying a decent cover... but I got over it...

I feel ya, my construction mind prioritizes things with the time I have and when a cover for the bed of the truck to keep the snow out is an item of contention I won't buy a new cover for the truck, I'll throw a loose piece of plywood over it before I go in for the night. My wife would buy me the cover, then I would return it. :)

Alright. I keep saying to myself "Get something done other than surfing FHC" Notice I am not paying much attention to self. Rainy, windy day after a couple of cold clear sunny days is kind of a downer. A real "in" day.

I'll try to remember to take some before pics and some during the install. I'm pretty bad about not doing that...I tend to put my head down and not look up until the job is done though.

I finally got it done! Borrowed the neighbors splitter and took care of that pile of rounds that's been in the driveway for months.

I did in in proper Backwoods Savage vertical style of course ;)

Ive seen a couple people show up at our field with quad rotors... but its not that common. The appeal is completely different. People that get into quads are mostly interested in it as a platform to take pictures, or fly around with an onboard camera with first person view goggles. Plus many of those quadrotors have GPS and practically fly themselves.

People that get into the kind of R/C we do - helicopters and old fashion remote control balsa planes - are more interested in the tinkering, building and learning to fly them like real aircraft and do aerobatic tricks.

Well, after I finally got my butt in gear this morning I went to the dump for my parents and our house today. Helped my mother move the new piece of furniture into place and rearrange things where she wanted them. Then went down to camp and cleaned the pellet stove out a bit. Then it was out in the woods to cut some firewood. I took down one decent size straight White Ash that probably measured 21-23" across at the base. I looked up that tree and thought I should be able to get 16 feet out of it. That will be one of the logs I sell to the Amish fella. I cut about 17 feet from the base and it is pretty straight. He only needs to get a few boards out of the logs that need to be 16'. Those will be the beams for his wagon. Then I cut the top of that and a couple other trees up for firewood. A decent amount. I then took the tractor down to that area and started clearing/pushing some of the brush and crap out of the way and pulled the large log and another smaller one out to the tree line. Tomorrow I will go down and retrieve the firewood first. Then take a couple more straight Ash down for logs. And cut up a little more firewood. I am going to use one of the smaller Ash as a dryer to keep one end of the logs off the ground. Do you think I should have two dryers about 1/3 of the way in from the ends of them?

I am clearing a path through this area as well which will give me access to some larger Ash.
