I have set the CI cookware in a 60/40 vinigar/water bath overnight, a light scrub, re-oil and into the oven up to 3x repeating the oil process. Ive have read mixed reviews using salt, no never bothered. I also haven't heard about adding it to coals until gray, but it may work.....
Well Seasoned if you can find a flat lid one they work great for putting coals on top. Unfortunately mines domed.
Either that or a slightly recessed one (which are alittle hard to find) Im taking a trip to Lancaster this weekend-hoping to find one and a large pan.
It looks like the taters will be done on the electric stove, I'll be getting a second Dutch Oven the same size so we can split the meat up between the two so we have room for the taters, it's still smelling great.
Happy New Year! Ahhh Zap, things are looking so good! I'll be willing to bet the critters around the woodlands are circling your house right now! Enjoy!!
Well Seasoned , I'm not sure you can cook on a Gasifier , but Pot Roast on the wood stove is much better than a crock pot. The wife loved it so that's good enough for me, the bread was also great. We did thicken up the gravy before we took it off the stove top. The wood I used for cooking this was, on the bottom some nice Beech, the second row had some Cherry with a round of Ironwood.
No cooking on my boiler. Unfortunately. But if power goes out for a long time I can disconnect the chimney from boiler and hook it back up to Pacific Energy Super 27 wood stove. I have the pieces of pipe ready to go. Stove is still there for back up.
Food looks great zap! I bet I could bake a few things in my gasifier like campinspecter does sometimes!
I dont know whether or not Gasifier is hot enough to cook on, (ive only seen him from the back, lol) but it looks like it turned out phenomenal! Id probably go through a half loaf just in the gravy alone! Nice work thewoodlands you might want to put that in the official FHC recipe thread!
I picked the LCC3 at a local store this morning for $40.00 plus tax, chicken for supper tonight with breakfast for tomorrow morning. https://www.lodgemfg.com/prodcat/deep-skillets.asp
