Some more Ash here, a view from the seat. Even these little guys add up. I try to use as much of the tree as I can. Use everything down to about 3-4" across. Then the wabbits can use the rest for cover.

The weather is/was great. A little cool but just right for working in. I won't be doing a bon fire tonight. I have tired myself right out. I worked from 8-noon. Then came home and ate a quick lunch, then went out and retrieved quite a few loads of wood. Then off to a few Amish saw mills to see if any of them needed any logs. All closed. Gone visiting family. But I did find one gentleman that wants to come and look at some of my trees. Potential buyer. He will come by for a visit tomorrow, mid morning. Then I took the wife and kids and muttleys for a walk through our woods. So now I am tired. It is time for a cool beer. And warm chair time. Now. What should I drink a couple of cold beers in tonight? Frosted FHC beer glasses! Dat's the ticket!
Great lookin pile Gas. Be nice if the snow would hold off a little longer. I had a good size pile of maple tops that have been stacked up since last spring. The pile was in a nice open area surrounded by enough snow to keep the bush safe, so I light er' off this morning and got the area clear for stacking the Red Oak I have coming up soon. Enjoy the brewskies......................
You's guys don't know how gooder you've got it by cutting up such STRAIGHT growing trees for firewood!!! I'm so jealous!!! And before I forget..................your tractor is the wrong color!!!!!!
My trees are straight. And so is my tractor! I've owned several color tractors but decided to go back to the best!
Good looking pile starting to grow there Gas. Those are some nice size ash rounds on that one load. One of my favorites to add to the pile.
Gas, Is that for the WG? Beautiful day in the woods, I see you're not snow covered either. I do like the snow but it's also kinda nice to have the easy access. Hey, Happy New Year!!
Yes, some is for the Wood Gun. This supply is for next heating season. A good part of the Ash will be sold in the fall next year. All will be split, stacked on pallets and dried for over six months outside. Hopefully I will have it all split and stacked by April 1st. That is the plan for this year.
Speaking of taking days off, Gas when do you not work so much and enjoy life with everyone? Alot of the posts you have up are crazy busy stuff. When do you find the time?
Most of this years stuff is at 20-24". Most of the stuff I have cut so far for next season is shorter. 16-18". This will be stuff I sell. I will cut a bunch of Ash for myself at 20-24 inches for the middle of the winter. But I have noticed though that the longer stuff is tough for my wife and kids to handle. So I think I'm going to stay a little shorter with it. Easier for everyone to handle. I'll keep cutting the long stuff for Jan. Feb. Mar., but a piece of 24" Ash that is 8-10" across starts getting heavy! LOL
This is difficult IS. I am trying to get ahead while I'm young so I can work when I want when I get older, and sit by the fire when I want when I get older. I am lucky to have a 40 hour a week job. And I have been on 12 hour days in the past. This gave me some extra days off. Now I'm on 10 hour days and work 4-10s. But I do have to make myself stop and spend time with the wife and kids. I also have a great wife. She understands I like to work. I enjoy most of the work I do. So it's not like work to me really. But now the kids are getting older and she needs me to help her out with the kids more. (Sports, dancing, son is getting into his bow and arrow and now pellet gun, etc.) So I have a difficult balancing act, as I'm sure you understand. I now have a second piece of property with the camp/land and will have to do a little at a time as we raise these great kids. They are only young once and I need to spend that time with them. When I'm out in the woods cutting wood, or cutting grass at the camp/house, landscaping a new area, and then come back to my wife and kids, it's like I'm in Heaven. Really. If there is another one, I want to stay here as long as I can and enjoy this one first! (Now what I have to do is figure out how to get to do the work I like to do ALL THE TIME!) LOL Ya, "Baby" Bobcat. I finished most of the real heavy duty work I wanted to do with the Bobcat. Then sold it for a little more than I paid for it. Then bought this used Kubota for different type of work. (Mostly drainage and landscaping.)Lighter, larger tires in rear, removable backhoe with 3-point hitch etc.
