Not today. That was taken on the 21st. I'll try to get a couple more pictures tomorrow if I remember. Or maybe even if I go haul out some wood. It is supposed to be very windy and cold and I do have to make a trip to town. We'll see tomorrow.

Cutting on a permit, it's nice to know roughly how much I'd cut.
Only way I know to measure how much is measure. So I stacked.
I'm no good at guess-timating how much is in a strung out pile. (of rounds or splits)

Rounds stacked up to 7 cord ±

    Split & loose stacked , 8cord ±

I have 9 cord permit, good for 12 months, may go get 2 more in the spring.
Have to Oct 10 to fill it.

I answered a Craigs List add for wood about 10 miles away about 3 months ago. The man said that wood for that add was gone, but gave another location (even closer) where he'd cut wood (ash and birch) and had piled it up. I got that and e-mailed him back that I'd taken all of it......................and then he called me up just a few days later and told me of another place (closer yet) that I could take all I want. Wound up being white mulberry and wound up going back there for 3 loads.

Probably close to 2 cords of mostly white mulberry, ash, and some birch. First location was about 5 miles.................the second one about 1.5 miles. Free wood................all I had to drive to pick it up, split, and stack it.

Are we putting a "value" on "our time" here??? If not; I got close to 2 cords of wood and all totaled, I never drove more than probably 15 miles.

Not as good as I've done in the past.....................but still good IMHO!!

You got to have near a years worth bucked up & ready to split ,
    come Spring. ?

With global warming, you gotta be going thru less wood ?
Your 5 year stash might be closer to 6.

I know my 14/15 wood shed section is not going down as fast as it has in the past.
Might be near to joining the 4 year club, if this winter stays mild.
Had 7-1/2 ready & on track to burn something near 5

I agree that we are very close to a year's supply there. I may look closely at it when I get that big elm hauled to the stacks. But, I wouldn't mind getting a couple year's worth. Trouble with that is the pending surgery would certainly blow the bubble on those plans.

Never have PAID for firewood. I'll scrounge old pallets first.

This was my best of the year. Ended up around 1.4 when stacked plus a lot of uglies I gave away. It's red oak that was free with a 90 mile round trip. Worst case it was 30$ in fuel. Already posted the pics but it was a nice load. 20140927_160610.jpg 20140927_163306.jpg

Wow, that's a long way to drive for wood. No wonder your "Drvn4wood"! How far are you from New Oxford, I was there for a week setting up an office in November.
