My honey's been downstairs all morning enjoying the wood heat... going thru hundreds & hundreds of old photos. She found these two. I had gone downtown to a friend's house and picked up an entire 36" plus maple they'd taken down, and brought it up to the farm with our crane truck. Around 2 cords. We rented the biggest vertical splitter I could find. All 3 pics are the same spot in front of the shed. The B/W was one I posted before from 1940s... color is 1995... my wife, son & daughter sittin on some big rounds. My son was 14 then and would cut, split, stack wood all day long. He loved it... still does. My daughter... not so much...
Bet Dad wouldn't have liked lookin' at that pile of logs in 95 with that bucksaw in his hand from the 20s...
I like just finding them. They're under 50 plus years of........ stuff... Somewhere, there are old B/W Brownie pics from 1930-1950. I've saved great great grandfather's diaries too. Those diaries were the 1880's version of FHC.
Arguing about what type of wood works best on the saw handle, instead of what brand oil to use in the saw!
I was REEEEEELY hoping nobody would notice that... And I feel kinda bad... my daughter was always a good helper back then... I think she was pizzed at her brother in the pic. She's not too crazy about wood heat today tho... think she had enough back then...
My daughter stuck her nose in the air when we got our wood stove. When it started pumping out the heat she changed her mind, she even helped feed the stove!
