The bricks are actually mate finished ceramic floor tile that I cut into 3" X 5" pieces and then subway stacked it with a 1/16" grout lines
The base of the hearth is white river rock and travertine squares. all of it is grouted with bone colored grout. My wall is still considered combustible becasue the durock and tile are attached directly to the framing. I had plenty of room for the stoves required clearances so I was able to go with the tiled facade for the aesthetic look of brick.

I should really try the plexiglass idea and then I wouldn't have to be as careful when stacking.

Thanks, it works great and keeps all the mess of bringing wood in outside.

    Dave,
I can't recall (my neighbor had a king last winter, removed it since), is the primary air inlet on the King on in the front, below the door? I'm referring to the inlet insdie the stove, not the control. From your pic, it looks like there is a blast of air in the bottom front under the glass. The PH does the same thing....

Air comes up the back of the stove, across the top & down the front glass.
Can watch the air moving the flames & smoke down the front.

The PE summit has as bogydave say the air wash down front of glass and (boost I think they call it) air in the bottom front under the glass

Had to wait for Christmas for the chaos of this homeschooling household to get presentable enough for photos in this old house. Still chaos everywhere but it's all a matter of degree. :emb:

One pic from the stairway across the living room from the stove (with the hundred year old rocker and the modern bentwood rocker), one from the dining room through the French doors into the living room with the stove.

    Nice Brian! Merry Xmas!

I'm surprised you can sit so close to the front of that thang? Or was that just a "setup" for the photo opp?

Sitting in a rocker that close to the PH might just burn you legs off! ;)

When I was younger I never could have stood to be that close to the stove. Ever since I had heart surgery five years ago I've been cold and I spend a good bit of time in those rockers. At times though this stove definitely drives me out if the front row seats.

I always sit there when I'm building the fire and waiting to engage the cat or close down the air. Plus since we don't have TV in this household it's a great place to read or surf the 'net on my iPhone or laptop.

Right where I want to be.
    Great pics.
    I do the same Brian.
Rocker right in front of the stove when making fire, then sit there for a while.

I'm lookin around the site since I just found it. Loved this thread. I like seeing all the different set ups and I really like how each is so individually designed. Here's a couple pics of mine, a Kozy Heat Z42. dscn2730.jpg dscn2731.jpg
