You mean you dont cut firewood with a stopwatch?  I like .325 too, and some 50cc saws I like 3/8... My peev with .325 is that it is harder to find "good" chain. Carlton and Woodland pro .325 is a low profile chain (not a fan, in the slightest). Stihl makes excellent .325, but I cant get it in .058 at the local dealer. Oregon makes good .325 too (.058), and that is all I use.

Cant beat .325 for how smooth it is, especially in the small stuff!

The only thing I dont like about my current setup (.325 RS) is I dont get to run a saw as long as I used to before Ive got a truckload cut.

Was cutting some 16" red oak and had no desire to pull out the 046.

I don't have any use for that low profile .325 either. I tried to give all my accumulations of Low Profile to Carbine
All my .325 is Stihl Rm & RS and of course .063 gauge. Good stuff.

    That's good too.
Did you file it or was it done on a grinder? If on a grinder like a Oregon 511A, what were your angles?

Gotta keep a saw in it's happy RPM range... AKA "the top of it's power band"
That's why lowering rakers is rarely the answer... Only as a last minute "set"

Yeah, I noticed the more I push (feels faster), the slower the times.

We even did a test on the round where I let go of the top handle and just let it self feed at near top RPM and it was still extremely fast. The square needed a little more push, but both felt fast and smooth.

Here is the 3/8" RSL that has had some work done to it.

The average time of the off the roll loops were 6.5 sec (RS) and 6.09 sec (RSL).

The average for this chain, on the 1st 3 passes, was 5.67 sec. Then I was told to make one more pass, but keep the saw in it's happy place. That one pass was just over 5 seconds. I timed the one pass (3 times) and got 5.17 sec.

    261 w/ 3/8" Square (new):
