Be good for straight & level ground . Just jack up the end & back your trailer under the log & chain it in to try out the idea. For firewood, easier to buck it up , & haul it out in a trailer from the woods I've been cutting in.
Very cool, IF you need the full logs for lumber or something. For firewood, why wouldn't you just buck it in the woods and take it out in a regular dump/cart....
My dad just uses the tractor with several chains attached to each other up on the side of a hill. He is down on the flat base area. As he pulls the logs down the side of hill. He undoes 1 of the chains and keeps pulling down and unattaching chains till log is off the hill. Thinking the cherry log took 5-6 chains to do this.
I saw one not so long ago in Maine Mike, the guy had wide open trails so it worked well. My trails are too tight here, otherwise I'd build something. valley mike
I thought about getting one a few years ago. I made a dray but it kept getting hung up on stumps & roots & flipped over a few times on side hills. Now I think , felling & bucking & hauling with the trailer is more efficient for firewood. Cleaner wood & I can haul more in the trailer than I can skid
I agree....... I try and do my bucking & splitting in the woods, cause most the stuff tends to be bigger. I hate messin around with big rounds.
