At least their are plenty of dealers around.....

Good Luck OS with the hunt, I hate hearing there are lousy people in this business but unfortunately that's just a fact of life....

Have you tried TSC or Farm and home ? If you have a Farm and Home they have a ton of Huskys available.

Retail chains are not going to have the 550XP..... Or the JRed equivalents in the case of TSC.

Really surprised more Husky dealers do not have the 550XP on the shelf since it is such a hot little saw right now.

Our Farm & Home is the largest Husq dealer in the area. Carrying everything up to the 576xp. If you want one larger, they order it, but they have every saw under the 576xp. They always try and stay on top of what's hot in the market. Thier display is actually quite impressive.

As far as TSC goes, yeah, they don't carry much at all.

Same here F&H has most of the xp lineup . The store owner is a book of husky knowledge as well. Tsc has a ton of the jonsered saws but nothing over the 60cc mark.

No Farm and Home around here, I'm guessing they are a retail chain, do they have a service dept for the stuff they sell?

Yep. Certified mechanic and everything. They are part of the "Do it Best" stores. But kinda split into 2 stores and half is a Husq dealer.

Mine also sells Redmax equipment also.

Huh. We have a ton of DIB hardware stores around and a distribution warehouse locally as well. But nobody has a Husq. Dealership attached that I know of. Good on them for servicing what they sell, especially quality equipment like the XP saws.

I am fortunate the local saw shop carries Jonsered. However if a TSC is what you have to work with, they can ordering any model of Jonsered that is available.

Stopped at the Stihl shop today and looked at the MS261. Feels pretty good but I want to check out the 550 too.

My Stihl dealer is great. I can send the GF and she will tell them what I need and what saw it is for and they get it right every time. Great customer service. I am liking what I hear about the 550 though. Dealer support for the 550 stinks for me but I will get my hands on both before I make a decision.

    Thanks for everyone's input.

My local saw shop said he could beat TSC's prices & a lot of his saw business is the local Amish so he doesn't think it will hurt his sales. Most of his business is repairs anyway. What did hurt for close to 9 months was not being able to get any saws in when Tilton lost the Jonsered distributorship. I know I had a long wait for my CS-2139T. It was mid June before he was able to get one. I could have got one 3-4 weeks earlier from TSC but I like buying local when possible & I have always received great service from him.

I never liked the Husky/JRed "super dealer" type distribution model. You run into exactly what you just described. Stihl has independent distributors as well but I've never heard of serious trouble with any of them. Some of those distributors are company owned, and a few are still independently owned.
