Pallet Pete I'm finally feeling alittle better..... time to get up and cook! Lasagna heading into the oven. You'll have to wait an hour+ for results! (Wish I had a WFO)
It's outta the oven finally, an hour and a half later....... Will sit and cool another 20 minutes until I dive in!
Been meaning to make that too. Yours looks really good. Have you tried using the no cook lasagna noodles? They're ok, but after a day or more in the fridge they get kinda goofy/mushy.
so what do y'all recommend for lasagna recipes? That's about the only food I have never cooked or attempted to cook... sounds silly, but my mom ruined a lot of foods for me as a kid.... lol
I got mine from one of my daughters, who probably got it from my ex. (her mom). It's very good. I'll try to find the recipe.......... 8 oz. package of lasagna noodles 15 oz. Ricotta cheese 2 cups Mozzarella cheese, divided 1/2 cup Parmesan 2 eggs, lightly beaten 6.5 cups pasta sauce (52 oz.) 1lb. ground beef, or Italian Sausage, or ground turkey, or a combination of your choice 1 tsp. parsley flakes Preheat oven to 350 Combine Ricotta, Parmesan, eggs, and 1 cup Mozzarella, and mix well Add cooked meat and pasta sauce in a separate bowl, and mix well Spread about 1 cup sauce mix into a 9x13 baking dish (enough to cover the bottom) Layer 1/3 of the noodles over the sauce Spread 1/2 the cheese mix over the noodles Continue layering this way with sauce, noodles, and cheese Cover with foil, and bake for 55 minutes Uncover, sprinkle with remaining Mozzarella and parsley and bake an additional 5 minutes or until cheese is bubbly (I use the broiler for a couple minutes to brown it..don't leave it too long) Let stand for 15 minutes, then dive in....if you can wait that long
My ex used regular, but I've used the no cook ones with good results. Just eat it quick...the no cooked/precooked tend to get a bit mushy after sitting in the fridge for a day or so. Just my experience. Oh, Pete's right, you can use cottage cheese instead of the Ricotta. I prefer the Ricotta, and usually use a bit more than the recipe calls for.
I use the one on the side of the lasagna noodle box. My wife makes the sauce, and I tweak the seasonings just a little. That is a great looking lasagna.
Looks good WS, glad you're feeling better! Call me crazy but I don't like ricotta in my lasagna AT ALL. I'm even part Italian and I can't stand it. My mom's recipe (ricotta free) is delicious, though. Lots of different cheeses, including Piccarino Romano, fresh parmesan, sharp cheddar, provolone and mozzarella), I like pepperoni and even capicola in mine as well.......
