Wow, awesome tree there but I'm really glad that thing got taken down as it needed to go! That sucker probably would have heated my house for half a year or better now I can see how you have so many stack of wood around your place . Nice job as always taking it down Scotty!
That sling shot is great... When I was on the DOT tree crew we use to set lines with the bucket truck.. Once we got the sling shot, the bucket truck was only used to do the actual tree. Saved a lot of wear on the bucket truck... The more you use it the better you get.. You'll use it a lot even as back up that's it's so quick to set a line using the slingshot... Heck of nice job... Hate getting those limbs out of the ground.. Sometimes they just had to be flush cut or a rope tied on to and pulled out with a truck or what have you..
I've seen that one several times....and man, would that ever suck!! I think it's safe to say this fella didn't pass his Physics class with flying colors...... That guy shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a chainsaw.....

I am still "kinda" hoping to find old tap holes in the trunk when we split the wood....who knows, maybe even an antique cast iron maple tap in there somewhere........ I'm just glad I didn't find any of those taps with my saw!!
No doubt. You never know what you'll find in a old chunk like that. Amazing what they suck up over the years.
I'd say that trailer is just slightly overloaded, that's awesome! I had a similar one and did the same thing many times.
Nice job Scotty. I look at those cut ends and see so many different colors in the grain. Too bad there is junk in the tree as I can imagine that being slabbed up could fetch some nice coin, especially furniture building. There is probably lots of good turning wood in there too. The age of the tree would be half the story in a finished piece.

Nice job puttin her right where ya wanted! The first pic is deceiving cause it looks like a real hard lean over the house. Sure does suck about that rock in the stump . I've found alot of different things when cuttin stumps but never a rock that big.
Scott, do you have a "Port-a-Power"? The expanding wedge is a handy tool. On that piece you have mostly cut with metal, you might consider splitting off the portion of the round you have cut for better viability. If you were to mount a winch on the top rail, (braced/reinforced), at the front of you trailer and set an anchor point in the bed of the trailer, you would be able to use the winch to roll those big sections up on the trailer with one hand while holding a cold beverage in the other. Your too young to get a hernia.
