I finally got most of the Cherry up, just under a cord of wood or 3 NY face cord. I'll get the rest up tomorrow.

Pic 0577 is what I started with and 0585 is what I have left of the Cherry.

Looks good Zap! You had an extended fall season and the weather cooperated.
Were you able to pick up all the splits in the field and get them back?

All the big stuff made it out but I do have some Maple that I bucked up that I never rolled down the hill (I forgot about it until this post) I'll grab that tomorrow.

Nice job Zap! Big splits of neatly stacked Cherry, what's not to like....

Are you running low on T-posts and landscaping timbers yet? Definately not running low on firewood stacks. ;)

I took some t-post from a stack we burned this year, the landscaping timbers/treated 2x4's we had.

I remember the days when we were only one year ahead, we're in great shape wood wise. I remember when I started on Hearth, Sav would preach about getting ahead on your wood supply if you can, so I blame this sickness on him! :saw:

I have to work off the big meals from the Christmas/New Year holidays.

I would take another two weeks without any big snows, I have more Cherry that was damaged by the ice storm and one of the trees is by the house.

I hope so but with the cold air and Lake Ontario southwest of us, the ole lake effect can kick in.

Yep, I spent all fall cleaning and re-arranging my wood area this year. Even did some box grading to level it out some. Only problem is I finished too dang late to plant grass. So now, if it's not frozen, it's a sea of mud and it's going to stay that way until spring when I can seed.:headbang:

All the pine needles are keeping this area pretty dry for all the snow and rain we had.

2015 should be a good year for processing some big trees taken down in the wind events of 2013, I might take the area for shoulder season wood and turn it into a regular stacking area for our better wood.....I think that if I make it bigger it will hold about 5 ot 6 cord.

Next year if things go well, I could start the burning season with over 30 - 35 cord in the inventory.

What a difference a little stacking does, lots more room & just looks nice & "kept"

Looks like you're ready for snow now :)

NH_Wood , we'll start burning some Beech this Monday for the first time this year, after burning Cherry up until this point the wife was very happy when we pushed in the better stuff.

Snow equals money for the small businesses in this area so we'll take it.

Love the beech Zap - prime wood - I have a cord that will be 4 years in the stack for next winter - can't wait. Can't believe we have almost no snow right now in NH - the Christmas thaw finished off all but the plow banks - wondering what the rest of the winter has in store......? Cheers!

With the Cherry, I'm use to packing the Liberty full but with the Beech I won't be doing that.

My first year burning I packed it full of Beech and Sugar Maple on hot coals, holy chit!

It was about twenty below, talk about drafting!
