I'm amazed at how mild it has been all month. I haven't had to run both stoves in tandem more than two weeks this year, heck I've only gone through 1.5 cord of wood this entire heating season and that's almost half of what I'm normally at this time of year.

No REAL cold anywhere in sight in the long-term forecast either! I was hoping for at least a "little" snow so we could run the sleds and get a bunch of firewood off of the farm. If this mild weather keeps up, we may not even do maple syrup this winter.....AGAIN.....

El Nino. I'm one of those that believes the ocean temps control the weather more than global warming. We, those of us in the NE and Midwest, may possibly have a exceptionally warm and dry spring & summer this year too.

    Sorry.

After last year I'll take this warm weather. Just 1 stat from our weather last year in my neck of the woods.
Relative to the average, the coldest day was December 24. The low temperature that day was -21°F, compared to the average of 13°F, a difference of 34°F. In relative terms the coldest month was December, with an average low temperature of 6°F, compared to an typical value of 14°F.

I want snow. If I have endure hot, humid summers to garden and work in, I want something nice and cold and fluffy to play in.:) It makes me appreciate my nice warm stove more.

Tell me about it! Plow hasn't hit pavement yet, ground hasn't frozen, and like you, I'm doubting sap production already.

Supposed to be 50 some degrees here today...

I like winter guys, but snow = work. If I had a snowmobile or something like that, I would be more into it. I like that I'm not rapidly consuming my wood supply. My ideal heating for my setup is a high in the low 30's and a low of about 20. I would take that all winter long. Warmer than that, and I usually let the stove go out so that can be a pain. Colder than that, and I'm constantly feeding.

I just don't want it to get really warm in February like it did in spring 2012. That cut winter way too short.

Right where I want to be.
Pretty sure November was colder than December.
We're due for some fairly cold temps soon, but like I said in another thread, I'd prefer temps between 15-20 most of the time.
Mid-30's and above makes for very goofy wood burning.
I'm sure the cat burners are laughing right about now...........

DB, you could very well be correct. They are getting some very cold/snowy weather across the pond at this very moment, maybe a sign of El Nino....

I agree That temps could be cooler. This wet unfrozen ground keeps making getting things done miserable!

We left some wood on the ground a few days ago because we were both too tired and hurting to pick up the rest of it. Today we went back there and part of it was in water. Dang, we got a lot of rain! Had that been snow, we'd all still be shoveling.
