Another Tire Thread (with free shipping until 12/26)

The truck needs some new shoes in a bad way. I had to use 4x4 coming up the driveway the last snow we had, it was less than an 1". So the old worn out Trail Guides are coming off and I think I will be putting some Hankook Dnyapro's RF10 on. I found them for $140.00/tire with free shipping.

I'm still tossing around the idea of putting new trail guide's on, as the spare is brand spankin new, would only need to buy three (and use one of the 4 on now as a spare.)

Anyone else running Hankook's?

 

The rf10 are great tires. A friend of mine deals in hankook and other tires. The tread is a step tread if you look closely at them. The other side note about the rf10 tire is you need to rotate them religiously. They are known to cup if you don't. I would buy them in a heart beat

IIRC the sipes are also stepped in the way that some are deeper than others or somewhere along those lines. I'd have to stop at the shop and read the spec book again.

 

OP I like the looks of that tire. IMO would be a good plow tire too.

The rf10 is a great plow tire. We have them on the dodge plow truck at the shop. Worth every penny you pay for them

 

I bought those same Hankooks 265/70/17 E rated from Kost Tire here in town. Mount, balance and the thrown in wheel alignment (when you buy 4 tires) for $725 out the door. It is supposed to be a 50,000 mile tire. The E rated tires are more. Not sure of their price for non E rated.

What's on it now? 245's feel a little squirrely to me compared to say a 265.

 

I would think the wider 265 would be a bit nicer, even though its only about 3/4" wider... For my personal application: I figured for as much towing/hauling vs daily driving I would make that sacrifice. (I drive about 45 highway miles per day.)

I was cautioned by our local discount tire dealer that discounttiredirect is their outlet for old tires that they are not allowed to sell in the stores...there is a shelf life on tires. I was told this while negotiating a price on trailer tires.

 

A 265/75 tire is going to be taller also than a 245/75

Correct, just shy of an 1" shorter on the 245/75/16.

 

It was a discount tire dealer talking about their online company.. There is a date code on every tire made... I know many tires have shelf life time frame. Granted they are usable well after the ideal time, but they do not sell them after x amount of time in their stores.... That's just what they told me... I do know the trailer tires I purchased from them were only 1 month old...
