Big games, to big for Manning ?

Seems to do this a lot.
Gets to the big games, can't make it happen.

 

Not sure if he tries too hard in the big games or it's the pressure.
Game was for home field & a bye week,
4 interceptions, several missed throws.

He does hold most of the QB records, except playoff wins.

Love to watch him play, but played in last years super bowl about like tonight, nervous , confused & unproductive.

If it wasn't for his one super bowl win , I'd equate his career with Dan Morino

 

I remember that;
Payton took them to the goal line &
the coach let "the fridge" take it in for a touchdown.
Walter Payton never scored a touchdown in a super bowl.
Was the coach's call , Walter could have scored had they coach called the play for him to run it in.

The pressure seems to overwhelm some to the point they can't perform to the level they do in regular season games.
Elway stepped up big time, the 2 years the Bronco won back to back super bowls.
Payton Manning seems to not be able to step up in big games, I can't imagine the pressure involved, but
some can & some can't.
Don't know if it can be learned or is just part of a persons make up.

 

He does seem to choke more often than not. He has the most post season losses and some ridiculous number of one game and done. However, yesterday it looked like he may be hurt.

 

Cowboys have the same QB stigma.
Some think Romo is going to shake it off this year &
will to make a run in the playoffs.

Eli Manning , not near the QB rating of his brother, has won 2 SBs,
Big games seems to bring out better performance in him.

Payton Manning will make first ballot Hall of Fame,
but for different reasons than Terry Bradshaw & Roger Staubauch .
He's a great QB, but , even with all of his records, difficult to say he's the best ever , now any way.

 

I think we would all agree that the best ever title goes to Tom Brady......

Now that he has the rep it's getting worse for him. He takes so much responsibility on as a player and on field coach. Wonder how he would've done w/ a top flight coach and some D.

It could be, plus there's the question of whether he allows the coaching staff to run the offense or won't listen. Still Tom Brady does not have as much to worry about on game day.

I knew the Bronco's D was supposed to be improved but I didn't realize they were 3rd overall, didn't look like it last night though. Can see there are some throws Manning can't quite make anymore. When he was with the Colts and had all the tools, if would have been nice if they had some defense to match.

I really like watching him play, his command is amazing and I do root for him but seems like every big game (even just Monday Night regular season) he's been having a tough time.

He's getting old and tired. Happens.

 

Well, we were watching the game last night and as usual, we expected the Bengals to collapse at some point, it usually happens in the second half. And sure enough, Manning comes out in the second half and starts walking over top of the Bengals. But they turned it around and shoved it right down the Broncos throat and that is completely out of character for them since they usually fold under the slightest bit of pressure, especially under the lights and cameras of Monday night football. Their fans are now filled with a sense of false hope and will end up being let down and angry when their team lets them down as they always do. It sucks having a team that's almost good enough, year, after year, after year.

The only reason I can think of that Manning fell apart last night was the psychological effect that Bengals defense had on him. It certainly wasn't Dalton's doing. He's mediocre at best compared to Manning.
