Another beautiful day for working in the woods. However, our bodies couldn't take much today so we only got out one load. There is easily enough for another load or maybe more that is cut. Hope to haul that out tomorrow if the rain holds off.
Looks like you have to cut a trail no matter which direction you go. Lots of down stuff & can see a few dead standing & leaning stuff You gonna be busy thru winter just keeping up !
One load is better than none! Looks like a good day to be doing it too. I'm still amazed at the fact you guys have no snow. Calling for some ice tonight here......yuck!
That is the top of an elm. It broke off some time ago. I'll probably cut the rest of the tree down but it wasn't in the cards today. Here are a couple pictures I took a couple weeks ago. You can see the elm in the first picture as it is the center treee. I thought I'd got the whole tree but not. It broke off just above what is pictures but what we were cutting today broke off that rh side. The second picture shows what it looked like a couple weeks ago. It was bigger than it appears to be in the picture.
Yes, it is cut your way in and out. On this one I got a way in but didn't want to clear more so I back in. One of those leaners will have to wait for Mother Nature to take down. The others are no problem.
That is a gnarly old thicket you are working in. Looks good for critters but not cutting wood. A good bit of the job must be just getting to the trees. Nice work.
I love the pics Dennis ! Well I need to get over there and visit! Maybe I can panic in the icy stream again… Sorry I missed your mail brother…. I just saw it!
One load beats no loads Getting out in the woods a little every once in a while is good for ya I think
We won't be getting back there today to get the rest of the wood out. Back is in terrible shape today.
Nice work Mrs.& Mr. Sav, give the body a rest (I'm doing that while eating some fresh baked cookies) Merry Christmas.
I envy you guys with flat to nearly flat land. Most all of my felling the last 8 years has been on steep, up to 17% grade, Kentucky hill sides.
There is a slight slope there where we were cutting and we have a few places not level here but most of this whole area is flat; some like a pancake. We just happen to live on a sand ridge and also have a creek. Cutting on that creek bank really sucks if there is frost.
