These are 16.5 rims also. Can't hardly find tires in that size anymore other than swampers and they are ridiculous priced
not a truck picture but some of the firewood trees we have been cutting up. 064 32" bar in there somewhere :-0
Ok, I'll play along for now only because I brought in the last load with a flimsy hunkajunka, but as soon as snow flies I'll be forced to whip out my other sigpic.
Imagine my trouble to find 14" tires in 225 70 14 for my ranger. I think there is like 10 tires made in that size sold in america is all!!
Time to swap to 15" wheels then. We had a late 80's gm full size van at work that had those 16.5 inch wheels. That was like 14 years ago and the options were very limited for tires on it. Expensive too. That was a horrible idea for gm to use that diameter wheel.
Yea I have thought of that. I keep thinking this is the last set the truck won't last. But I think of this set wears out. I will consider it. But the 15" tires available are basically the same price and since I came find the 14" ones I havent swapped yet. The truck has like 308,000 and keeps on going.
I have a similar issue with my little dually it takes 185R14 load range D tires, there are just a few manufactures left who make that tire, I replaced all 6 a couple years ago
Clemson, what motor and tranny are in the ranger ? I've had a couple of ranger and broncoII's. All have had more than 250k, to 420k on them when they left my possession. Most were the 2.9 cologne German v6. The one that had 420k was taken out by a drunk running his red light. She still ran after that but was too far gone. Heck we may even have a set of factory ford 15" stx style aluminum wheels laying around.
it wasn't just GM, my 84 F250 had 16.5's on them and 33x12.50x16.5 BFG's weren't cheap.... little Toyo diesel dually? i've always wanted one of those for a woods hauler. Dad's 92 2.9v6 5speed (bought new) 2wd ext cab had 230K on it when I got it in high school. I put about 90k on it and sold to a buddy so I could get my 94. It had rear brakes a few times and minor basic maintenance, think dad put a timing belt in it around 200ish. Good little truck. I bought a 94 STX with the 4.0/5speed and it was a beast. had 160ish when I bought it and drove it 90 miles everyday for 5 years. only issue I had with that was the 4wd selector motor would not engage the transfer case when you needed it to. I took it apart and cleaned it a number of times. Probably the best vehicle I owned to date. I miss it. I hauled way more that the payload was capable of, towed my mustang to the track all over the midwest and just plain abused it. I even put dual stainless steel tail pipes off of a 5 liter mustang on it. I"m getting sad just thinking about it now... The guy wrecked it two weeks after I sold it, because I wanted to buy it back after buying a full size for a daily driver....
[QUOTE="Freakingstang, post: 222840, member: 1907" little Toyo diesel dually? i've always wanted one of those for a woods hauler. .[/QUOTE] nope not a diesel, running the 22re
Stang, did you have the auto electric lock hubs on that ranger stx? I did on my 86 Eddie Bauer bronco 2. That was the one that had 420k when taken out by the drunk. That actuator dealie was like 400 installed from the dealer since nobody else had them, and swapping to manual lock outs wasn't the right option. That truck would've rusted out before it would've died. Insurance paid me $3k when it was totalled. Lots of good memories and stories from that truck. I have almost as many good memories about that truck as I do about either of my fox body 5.0's.
I did. I forgot about those. Had issues before the shift motor. I put a warn manual set on it. I didn't want to wonder if it was in 4wd or not. And yes the memories in the truck. I loved my 5 liters but they came And went. The truck stuck around and I "just had to have a full size"
