I havent done squat the last month or so. Waiting for the ground to get a good freeze, then its on. Lots, and lots of ash trees coming down this winter.
I wish our ground froze up more down here. Been dealing with lots of mud lately after the rain we got
It was pretty solid a few weeks ago, but its been warming up some. Still feels solid to walk on, but had my truck back in the field this evening and was definitely getting a little slick. I made sure to snag another trailer load of firewood, because this warm spell this week is going to keep me from getting anymore for a couple weeks. I have to make sure I get a cord or so up to the house in the fall, just enough until the ground freezes. I can get back there anytime after that (unless there is a ton of snow on the ground. It has definitely been different this year than last!
My side yard is at the end of a slight slope, so it gets lots of water runoff when it rains, and it can get pretty mushy. It also happens to be where my log loads get dumped so I do lots of driving between there and the stacks out back. Usually I can pick my route carefully and get through in 2wd but sometimes I gotta shift to 4 wheel. Oughta just have the side yard paved but that's $$$$
Nice bunch of oak skylogger. But why did you noodle them? That should split pretty easy. Also, I would hesitate to stack right at that fence because of lack of air movement. Will take longer for the wood to dry.
Same here we split one day so far this month. Been to busy with Christmas parties in the restaurant. I wish my customers would understand that I need to get outside to the wood pile to keep my sanity.
Thanks fellas, I split those big chunks where I cut it no noodling on those(although I love noodling), I had to walk each piece about 30 yards to my truck and no way could have carried them whole they where between 18 and 24 inches to start!!
Man that's some nice wood if the splits look like they were noodled Looks like another load of prime ,straight grained , fun splitting wood.
The fence faces south southeast so I figured it would be ok(I hope) it will have 100% sunshine and it gets real hot down here in arkansas
