Clamshell underdog

That's amazing! I've been reading on these forums for awhile now and have been given the impression homeowner grade saws couldn't cut wood???

All jokes aside, that's a great post and a nice running saw. All of the clamshell talk seems to revolve around the MS290, but there are a helluva lot of 021/023/025/210/250 saws out there that have served a many a wood cutter for a long time.

 

I've had 3 come in trades and sold 2 like new runners $150 025 250 and one parts saw $40 025 that was rebuilt by new owner. Nice saws but just to much new IMO.

 

I have one with 3/8 lopro 18" bar and love how it cuts. I'm a big fan of the 1123 series saws.

Thats what I am saying new $300 was to much for them 45cc saw JMO. $200 up used is to much in my mind. Thats why I sell the super nice ones at $150. Anything less then nice lower. This is all JMO.

I was buying NE 346xp under $400 at one time. New at my local dealer.

OE 346 46cc I would think could have been had cheaper at one time. Heck NOS OE right now are still $400 with the price jacked up.

 

I like that family of saws ! Ive had a 170...180....021.... And 025. All are really good runners. Light and easy to handle !

A lot of good saws just don't get the recognition they deserve on these forums. The 025/250 is definitely one of those.

I have a pair of 40cc Ryobi saws that are quite impressive. A couple guys have asked me if there is any work done to them because they couldn't believe a Ryobi could cut wood.

You just got me in some big trouble dude. First of all, after seeing your vid I decided to go out in the driveway to cut some cookies - the driveway was clean for the first time in months till just now.. It's a mess once again. Second, I really wanted to cut some cookies so I didn't change clothes. My nice jeans and shoes are now covered in chips. And third, now I really want to muffler mod my little 251. Seems like that made a massive difference.

 

And its super easy to do !!!

 

So what would I do with this?

 

Thats a little different than the older model mufflers I have done .

 

I have 2 025's at work that have never seen a stick of farwood or even bar oil for that matter. They get used by me for removing stumps and such on landscape jobs that I remove and put in new. I cut roots, rocks, and telephone wires with them. Absolutely bullet proof saws. For my personal use one of my go to saws is 250 that I bought new. It does every thing I want it to do for the wood and trees I cut. I just wish I could find these cheap 025's and 250's you guys are talkin about around here. Not many cheap and well taken care of saws in my neck of the woods. The seller always says that he knows what they sell for new. Sheesh.

 

That saw would take a dump on mine. I'm very very interested in opening mine up like that.

 

Nothing wrong with those stihls at all. My 291 cuts a fair amount of large wood in all these dump truck loads I get from my tree guy. Never given me any trouble

 

I sold those. 2 for $150 apiece They were trade ins.

 

I was going to mod a 311 muffler for a friend. But after getting another 311 in to work on before his. I decided a muffler mod wasnt needed. JMO on that saw. It sounded like a real chainsaw, seemed to flow out exit great and had good throttle reponse. Nothing to back up my thoughts like a before and after deal I usually do.
So I told the friend with 311 IMO there was no need to mod his muffler.
