Local news had a short story, 24 new Grandview woos stove donated to a remote, local native village. Tyonek, close to the remote Beluga Power plant that supplies Anchorage power. Grandview is a Lenox product. Didn't know Lennox made wood stoves. Flying out the new stoves , pipe etc out & technicians to install them in the next few week. Story said the old stoves are old smoke dragons heavy air polluter type. Hope they also teach them to burn 1+ year seasoned wood Coudn't read the model # on the box, just Grandview Any one familiar with the Grandview ?
Lennox bought Country stoves a few years ago and just put their name on them, I just tried to look them up and now it appears they go by the name Ironstrike and they make the stoves for Lennox/who it looks like got merged with Innovated Hearth Products, Does not look like they even brand them Lennox anymore Looks like they still have mostly the same line up of stoves and insert when they were Country brand, I have their small insert The Grandview is their latest non cat model http://ironstrike.us.com/products/t/wood-stoves 2014 The Lennox brand transitions as IHP Brands emerge The Lennox brand name for stoves and inserts goes away in early 2014. Reminds me of a story I heard many years ago. Apparently, when our government shipped milk to some remote tribal peoples in South America the people ended up painting there houses with the milk. First off they did not like the taste because they never had it and secondly the white made the houses cooler in the jungle. Sometimes the best intentions have the worst consequences.
Looks like a nice stove. Can get a fan kit for it too. The seasoned wood part might be tough to teach/learn out there. Been burning wood & coal there for many years, cutting wood ahead of time might not go over well withthose who've cut, split & into the stove to burn for decades .
