This afternoon I had errands to run and was out in the southern metro area of Minneapolis. I have been meaning to stop at this place I heard of that gets slightly damage goods from Home Depot to liquidate. Had some time so I decided to stop and see what was up. The guy had 7 Echo saws and one Homelite. All priced from $100 to $150 various models. I have a older light weight Echo with a 12" bar. This was the new version of the same saw with a 14" bar. I got it for $100. The owner told me that if for some reason it doesn't work as I think it should I have 14 days to bring it back for a full refund. I figured what do I have to loose.
"Upon further review" I now realize that the model has been discontinued, which doesn't bother me as long as it runs good. I have also realize that the emissions attachments in the exhaust and the carburetor need some modifications to make this saw perform well. It was dark when I got home so tomorrow I will see if I can get this thing running.
It seems only a tankful has been run thru it. The oil is only 1/4 full and there is no gas in it. I have the oil draining out of it right now and I am going to start with fresh oil to make sure that is correct. I am wondering if any other members here in the MN/WI area know of someone who would know what modifications I should make on this saw. I really like it for the weight and the 14" bar. Most of what I cut this here at home I can do with that size saw. I need my other gear when I'm in the woods.

Pallet Pete might be able to let you know what to do. I have the cs330t I think it is. Nice little top handle that I need to work on a little. Runs good but I think it could be better.

    WOWWOWO! Very nice score Marty!

I would pull the carb limiter caps and clip the wings off first. That's easy to do with needle nose pliers and try it that way. If it is still bogged then take the exhaust off and put up a few pics and I can tell ya weather to drill out the cat or pop a hole in and where to open it up.

On another note did they happen to have a cs400 in stock? I'm drooling over them right now lol.

Yeah Pete I own a CS 400 and it is nice medium duty saw.
I forgot, I have to go work at the local ski area tomorrow for my 8hrs. so I can ski free all winter so I might not get at the Echo till late but I will tryout what you told me to do after I see what i got.
    Thanks for the help.
Too bad it far away. But, maybe someone more local might want to hop on it. He had a CS 590 that went for $200 but I was too late for that one.

There was one on ATL craigslist for $220. It's been there for awhile. If I had the extra cash I would have bought it already lol.

Those mufflers are modded by pros, such as myself, with a Unibit

I sold mine for $100 but just because I do not like top handles.

Just remove as much of the honeycomb as you can by whatever means necessary. If I recall it is a crimped halves deal and getting those back together are for someone with welding skills. Be sure to use compressed ait to get all that loose metal out.

Nice little limber. I also remember the L needle being very fussy between seasons but ran proper once dialed in.
    Good luck.

    old guy,
I talked to the guy there today about a Lincoln ox/acetylene welding outfit that he had and he said he will be getting in more things over the coming weeks. So, if anything it is a good place to check out.
I also was in Johnson Hardware on Portland south of 494 today and they are getting out of Jred saws. Prices looked good and I am sure after Xmas they will go down some more. So, if you know someone in the area that is looking for Jred saws might be a good place to look.

Fired up the Echo cs-330T this afternoon. Bought some new Premium non- oxygenated fuel added the oil added some sea-foam per directions and then filled the bar oil reservoir, set the choke pulled twice and on the third pull off she went. Ran it on idle for about 2 minutes then let it go. Runs great!
    Cuts great too.
I like it, I guess I'm keeping it.
