Getting anything to dry in the Hudson Valley is an effort in futility. When you get oak that's under 20% moisture you've hit the jackpot! Happy burnin'!

How does Swedish particle board rate on the BTU scale?

I have the same thing with some punky oak I split in June. It was measuring around 20 to 24 a couple months ago and now reads sub 20 on fresh splits. It's been top covered since day one and sits in what amounts to a wind tunnel at the end of my lower driveway.

I'm finding that my wood seems to be drying a lot faster than what appears to be normal seasoning times. Our property lends itself to a lot of wind and the climate here is more like DC than central or northern Pa which must help. I'm gonna keep adding stacks and hopefully our wood gets better every year.

Oh, it burns HOT. I'll throw in a little sheetrock with it to slow it down.

My shed also gets a lot of air. We live on top of a hill and the wind seems to always be blowing around here.

I've found this as well. I've gotten oak under 25% and closer to 22% in around a year, a little under actually. Silver maple, gum, and slippery elm good to go after 6-8 months or so as well

A lot of info on these types of sites comes from much different climates than I see though. Lots of rain and snow and milder summers surely slows the seasoning clock. Not a lot of members from down south, so my experience may be an exception to the norm for wood burners that do so farther north and out west
