:eek:Are you buying? You are all over the map on the price range. o_O And you are spending money I don't have.  Let's just set the top end price range at about $350. I would love to do all that but you have me spending $1000 + I have not seen a Dolmar dealer around here.

Top handle saws are the little baby lightweight saws that arborist climb with. Good for limbing and stuff 10" or less. I find I don't use my "in between" saws much. Usually use the 24" after tree is on the ground and limbed out. Don't have to bend over as much while bucking.

I will not forget about my Farm Boss. It has not let me down. I keep the chain on it sharp, I have 4 of them. And it cuts really well. I guess the only way I would do that is if they gave me a good trade in price at the Wood Chop Shop on a bigger professional saw. But I doubt I could get a good trade in price. Could probably sell it for more. But I don't want to go through selling it to tell you the truth. I like it and I think I will just keep it. I don't see myself buying a larger saw now. I would like one, but have already spent too much money. :emb:

I was quite surprised how light the 421 felt. The specs don't twll the whole story on that one. 166 always brings a couple to the G2Gs around here.

They are very nice saws. They are strong and smooth, but are as heavy as a 545 and nearly as big. It would be really nice compared to a 60cc saw, but if you have a 50cc it's not that attractive.

My MS290 is 56.5 cc I think. I am thinking a lighter, but good power saw would be good. 290 is 13lbs. + a little.

"A 14"-16" bar will be enough for many, many trees on my property. I want good power and low weight so I can work a longer time before getting tired."

Get whatever "pro" metal cased saw (40-60cc) you can get the best deal on locally and has the best service. There are PLENTY of options in this range. Just pick the best price and service and go from there. There is nothing in this niche that is clearly head-and-shoulders above the rest. Just make a decision and live with it. It's not like you're looking a $1000-2000 PHO saw. In that situation, you want to micromanage your decision, 'cuz you can waste several hundred dollars with the "wrong" decision." In your situation, the whole range is available within 1-200$ of each other. Sorry to be crass, but, I'm just trying to put things in perspective, so you don't waste too much time, energy and / or money on a relatively small stakes decision.

Thanks. I don't have a lot of experience with chainsaws. But appreciate the other guys post. Keep them coming guys. I have learned some things already reading their post/suggestions and then researching the saw they recommend. I find it interesting. It's all good.

It is not a pro saw but my Husqvarna 445 is the saw I use more than any of the others.
It runs a 325 chain , 18"bar, its light weight doesn't wear you out. When the bar is worn out I'm going to set it up with a 16 inch
I paid $220 for mine it was a refurb
you can buy one at Lowes run the chit out of it if you don't like it take it back get your money back;)

I thought that the Wood Chop Shop carries Dolmar, call Michelle in the Massena/Raymondville Store.

I've bought my saws through them, so I like supporting the small shops, they'll be here when Tractor Supply or Lowe's close up because the profit isn't big enough.

 :lol:I won't run the chit out of it and take it back. But I like buying locally so that if there is a problem in the beginning they will stand behind the saw. Most places will do this. The Wood Chop shop will fix any problem there is, they have a shop that will fix it, do maintenance if needed, etc.

Ya. I buy everything through them. I decided to not buy a new Mahindra tractor from them. I was able to find a slightly used Kubota TLB for a little over half that price of a comparable new tractor. Dat's a lotta dough saved.
