Holy frickin wind got to use the saw tonight.

Man so glad to hear you made it through safely. I am really sorry about the trees and all the other damage you sustained. I don't think we got hit as hard as you did but our power was off and I have branches and limbs all over the yard.

 

So glad you all are physically ok. Your property took a ht. That happens. The one thing predictable about it is that it will be back, again and again.
We are having the nasty stuff here now. Downpours, erratic wind, but nothing exceptional as yet.
The one thing I learned was any tree that could fall and damage my home had to go. I might get swiped by some branches, but anything of measure is now firewood.
Again, glad to hear you are ok. Worried all night.

 

The winds woke me up around 3am with the front coming through - good thing I didn't bother cleaning any leaves up yesterday

Today were suppose to get 50 mph wind gust (Wind Advisory), that's nothing compared to what happened yesterday in other parts of the U.S.

I started getting a bit worried last night at bedtime, because the wind really picked up a lot.
One big Spruce was my concern, since it's dying and has a lean toward the pole barn.
I finally decided there wasn't anything I could do about it, so I went to bed and slept very well.
It's still windy this a.m., but not as bad.
Took a quick walk to the stacks with Casper.....they're still standing.
Actually, not much other than a few small branches down, but I haven't gone into the woods yet. Don't plan to until the wind subsides.

 

Any tree that kept you awake wondering if it was goons fall & do damage
might need a hair cut or become fire wood when you can get to it.

Some areas got hit hard, be safe out there helping & cutting. Know
many of you will have the saws out doing clean up.

 

Well never lost power last night and the shingles are all still on the roof. Saw a few big limbs down on the ride to and from work today. I'm sure will have a few extra claims with tree branch damage to deal with for the remainder of the week.

So true, I had a magnolia planted near the house. I thought it was a shrub. Was I ever surprised when I was pruning limbs away that were rubbing the roof shingles. Man, that tree was messy. We had the threat of a hurricane. I called on my son to take the tree down. It had four trunks each about 8 inches thick. Trees that can fall on your home and cause damage are an avoidable risk.

 

I am glad to hear that everyone survived the storm. Sorry to hear about the damage it caused though. So far, we have only had one good storm but nothing like what you all have been going through.

Sticks all over the place here, some bigger branches down but no damage.
Tarps are still on , and the dang leaves were wet so most of them stayed put

"A 29-year-old woman was at risk of losing part of her leg Monday after a powerful gust of wind caught her car door, pulling her out of her moving vehicle.

The woman was able to tell paramedics exactly what had happened as they tried to stabilize her en route to the trauma centre at the Civic campus of the Ottawa Hospital, where she was in serious condition.

They’d been called to the parking lot of a residential complex in the Walkley and Albion Rd. area at 9:13 a.m. as high winds buffeted the city.

The woman was alone in the car, which was in reverse.

“She opened the door, it got caught by a violent wind,” Ottawa Paramedic spokesman J.P. Trottier said. “She still hung on to the door, it pulled her out partially — one leg was out, one leg was in — and the vehicle was still moving so her foot that was outside got caught underneath the tire.”

The worst injuries were to her lower leg, which was crushed, but the entire leg was affected.

“She’ll probably lose part of her leg - certainly below the knee,” Trottier said. “They were trying to stabilize the leg injury above the knee.”

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement Monday morning for the National Capital Region and all of Southern Ontario warning that a major low
pressure system tracking through Northeastern Ontario was causing showers, thunderstorms and gusty winds."
