Year old or so belt having cracks and breaks says to me check tension and pulley alignment (off alignment causes heat which shows as cracks).
Belt tension should be as loose as they system will allow.
If you have a spring loaded tensioner check that it is pivoting easy.
And double check that the correct length/width belt was installed.

I used to think I was safe in this position as well (easy boys!) but it sucks when you're connected with a chain!

Well, in order to even think about changing the belt or putting one on, the fender/rear body has to come off.
In order for that to happen, the seat has to come off, and so do the pedals, and I don't remember what else.
I got to that point when it needed to be done last time, but gave up when I saw what I had to do underneath.
    It's crazy.
I'd be working on the cold muddy ground, if it doesn't get cold, and I ain't goin' there anymore.
Not a youngster nowadays. I suppose I could clean out the shop and push it in, but that's another job I planned to do over the winter.
I didn't get a chance to call the place today, but that's probably where it'll end up.

I try hard to remember if it ever really was fun crawlin around on frozen ground skinnin' my knuckles off frozen hands......... nope, it really wasn't all that much fun was it? Gooder call... git-r-to-the-shop...

Might find an online video for step by step " how to "
Also some small tractor forums out there.
Nice to have some "how to " or a manual with some info, before digging in so
deep to find you need "X" speciality gismo , which you don't have. :)

Been through all that once already.
Really don't want to do it again.
If I don't get a good response from the dealer, I may try again.

Wow, that is a big design fail if a tractor needs to be disassembled to replace the drive belt. Having to take half the tractor apart to replace a easily damaged transmission fan is the main reason I didn't buy a kubota bx. If that was my tractor it would have a for sale sign on it as soon as the grass starts growing in the spring (after the belt was replaced of coarse). Good luck!
