Got ahold of Treadwright warranty dept on thu am just before work and was told to file a claim in regards to the flapping/wapping noise. Due to limitations of daylight, I finally got the claim filed with a pic that they requested, today. The gal told me there is a warranty meeting every morning and she also said that even though I had not filed a claim yet (as of Thu a.m.) she would bring it up at the Thu meeting. Hope it helps to "get the ball rolling" a bit quicker.
No haven't fixed truck, don't want to turn it in to Ins co. either, as first thing they will do is jack price and then at renewal time cancel. This is getting to be sop for a lot of ins co. I picked up an alum. 8' x 7' flat bed that I will replace the box with ( sooner or later, if it don't get stolen first) it was less than 1/2 the price of a clean replacement bed around here ( $2500 for a bed complete- used to be they were $ 900. sheese)
Gotta give Treadwright a big thumbs-up. Got off the phone with them and they said they will be shipping out a tire to replace the noisy flapping/wapping one. It does seem to be getting worse, so that's a relief. The warranty department has been great in handling these two claims without the usual suspected hassle that could be easily associated. I know that the tires are still new, 250 miles, but at this point I would re-order them again when the time presents itself. Hopefully they will last and perform as expected.
just got e-mail from treadwright- free shipping till end of month stateside only on full line- Course they did raise prices to cover the shipping.
Yup they sure did. Looks like about $10 a tire more than what I paid for mine. They where $69 plus $24 each shipping when I bought them and they are listed at $79 now.
The second replacement tire arrived today and is now on the truck. Took care of the "wapping/flapping" sound and inspected the tire before the bead was broke. There were a couple center lugs of the tread that actually looked cupped. I think that since they were just lower than they were supposed to be it created the sound. Makes sense once you saw the tire. At any rate, the only noise I have now is from the tread pattern. Treadwright did an excellent job on their warranty/customer service and I'm very grateful for that!
I had a hunch which one the sound was coming from...according to my abused, tired, selective hearing ears. I also had two different ride-along/drive-along give me their opinion; which proved to be more important!
