I think I'm going to make a heap of these out of silver maple and pine over the winter this year. Let the wife sell 'emor at the craft shows next summer and fall. 10 bucks a pop, I bet they sell like hotcakes around here!
Look at what it's called on the sign. "Bonfire log." Cost you about a grand to create a bonfire with those things. Amazing what people will buy. A guy on CL sells a cu ft for $5 picked up. Had a customer a few years back ask me to make him 15 of what he called Swedish Candles. I looked them up on the internet charged him $100.00 . He was going to use them for lighting at his back yard night time wedding. I learned that the Hobo's would cut a small log with a hand saw, using it for cooking as well as heat when their train was due they would simply turn the log over into a hole in the ground that they had dug fill it with the dirt extinguishing the fire. Don't know how true it is but it was on the internet so it has to be true. Right?
I've seen them at Home Depot. Hard to tell from a pic if they were the same size. The ones at HD had plunge cuts. (no side vents)
The plunge cuts burn slower, lower, & longer. Air via the side vents make them burn hotter & faster. Some come with a wick and a little starter gel in the center, others you have to add a little charcoal starter to light them. We use them (homemade) at my daughter's girl scout camp-outs. Light them, cook on them, them push them all together for a big campfire. KaptJaq
