Dark days of winter

Better than the darkness IMO.

May , June , July . not really get dark,
Dusk for a while then the sun comes back up.

 

oh...stop it...Winter is fun...Crank the stove and hunker down....

No heat form it. Be down in couple hours

 

Sun peaking over the mtns., hitting the treetops at noon.
Sun pops up over the East side of the shed, & set over the West side.
Not there for long & the 5.7° angle makes long shadows.
Nice to have blue sky

 

I've been watching your post for two years. Enjoying some of the most beautiful pictures ever taken. What I don't understand is why you don't have snow up to your roof.
In Minnesota, we had snow so deep it went right up over the roof. Here in Maine, we often have snow waist deep, but no so much in the past few years. The osean does a lot to influence what our weather is like.

 

The mtns give our location a Rain/ snow shadow.
We get a lot of "down sloping" winds, dry air.
Storms come , "Normally" from the south

Storm angles ,
if the "Low" is centered West, we stay pretty dry, like past few years.

This year, so many storms are bringing warm air.
Warm air & rain shadow. We had about 6" on the ground, most melted.

Lovely pictures of your short day. We had sunshine and lots of wind here. Gets dark about 4:30 PM and not light until 7:45 AM. A little longer day than you.

Melted this year but
usually the winds blow it away. Normally N wind it this area pretty hard.

Have replaced shingles many times in the Spring. I think I have them all glued now.
Missing some on the garage vent cap, found most of them.

Yes! I m sick of the short days. The VA sent me a light to sit in front of the help with this issue

At least we are on the upswing now.
January is typically the coldest month
but by the end of Jan, we are up 2 hours more of daylight (up to 7:41 of sun) & gaining 5 minutes + per day.
With the sun "angel" going above 10°

January:

 

Last January was the warmest I can remember.
Average temp was 35°
Hoping for a repeat,
Raspberries , garden , all plants did real well not having a month of below zero
Lack of snow is making the local dog mushers nervous, several local races have been cancelled.
Still training with atvs on dry frozen trails, the trails don't have enough snow yet.
Not even able to cross many of the rivers yet.
