So far this year about a cord, half chunks and shoulder stuff and half good stuff. I lit the stove during an early cold spell and once the genie is out of the bottle it is hard to get it back in. Even on the warmer days now everybody is cold and wants the stove going. With a small fire last night the house was in the mid-70s this morning.

Cat life decreases with increased usage.. I believe cats come with a prorated 5 year warranty so your old cat may have been covered..

Could have been but I bought it used so I don't know about it being covered. I did get a warranty with the new cat too. So should be good from here on out.

I burned about a 1/2 cord of poplar, and almost 2/3 cord soft maple. I heat full time with it and there haven't been many times the house dipped below 70 - I like to keep it around 75 at the thermostat. Haven't run the furnace once.

Got another 1/3 cord of maple left on the porch, which should take me to the end of December. After that I have 3 cords of ash ready to go which is my "good stuff", another 1.3 of the soft maple, and another 1/2 of poplar. Way more than I should need. I should be able to save 1/2 of the ash for next year.

    Right around 1.5 cords.
1/2 cord of Pine, 1/2 cord of Red Maple, and a bit more than 1/2 cord of mostly Red Oak.
Got about 3 more cords of Oak and about another 2/3 cord of Pine and Maple in the shed.
That should be more than I need, but I seem to be using more than expected.
The next 3 months will be very telling.

Good, Ray. I think I'm still in a bit of a learning curve, so using a little more wood than normal.
I just got done with the attic stair cover, and fixed the dryer vent, so it's been easier getting and keeping the house warm. November was colder than "normal", so that hasn't helped.
Our usual "average use" is about 2/3 cord/month, and we're at about 1/2 cord/month so far, so until the cold months hit, we're doing gooder. Once it gets cold though, it'll change the average, since use will go up. I'm hoping for about 3.5 cords use for the next 3 months. That would be great.
Thanks for asking. Keeps me thinking.

Think your overall wood usage should be substantially less than it was with the Ashley..

That's been the hope since well before I got it.
It burns soooo much cleaner than the old stove.

Looks like we're getting close to a cord.

We've now finally run out of the 2008-2009 wood pile. Time to get busy...

Gone through about a half cord so far. Burning was spotty in late Oct. and pretty constant through Nov. I'm also getting accustomed to burning with a new stove, so I've probably used more wood than I should have.

More than a cord, but hard to track this year because I didn't bring the wood all in at once and my stacks were all different lengths and heights. With no more kids getting off the school bus to reload at 3pm I am thinking we will go through a little less wood. Plus we've had relatively warm weather so far. Six cord in the woodshed and plenty more out under tin roofing, so bring it on.
