Sorry if this has been talked about already, but what in the world is this??? http://columbus.craigslist.org/bfd/4756738018.html
do not think it is actually a knock off but I have bought a saw from this person. it is a Richmond brand, mine is 70cc and runs and cuts very good. I bought his display model at the time, got it rally cheap. it is much better quality then the Chinese ones most on here were buying last year. I have one of each so can compare them.
In case the seller see`s my post... I am not taking a shot at your product, rather I am just asking about it.
there are some floating around on here from the Chinese thread I believe. I will post some when I get home. It actually is a pretty descent built saw. Being I am relocating I might be able to give you a deal on mine.
After taking another look at the ad, I do not think that is the Richmond brand, it is a copy. Still the guy is a nice guy that sells them. If I remember right when he first got them they were 900.
Fer $600 you can buy a nice saw...i wouldnt waste my money..but thats just my opinion....yall can spend yur money however you like
Pete go to the thread "dropped a few maples today" and there are some pics. still how it looks I do not use my saws much being I burn Pellets.
Regardless of how they brand them they're clearly a Stihl knock-off and I believe they're still Chinese made. The "MS070" is a pretty common knock-off, but I've seen a lot of them that were labeled as 090 although they were still 105cc. For the record, if anyone has a hankerin' for a genuine Stihl 070 and $600 burning a hole in their pocket let me know!
Ya know, It'd be alright if they wanted to move up to electronic ignitions instead of copying the damm thing right down to every last detail. (specs list a magneto breaker point ignition...) Chain gauge ".404" Chain pitch "3/8"
IMHO they are capable of making decent products in China but only do so when forced and under the watchful eye of the company they are producing for. I have never seen any copy of anything made in china that wasn't complete junk. As someone else said, for $600 you are in nice saw territory.
China, of course! So, I've heard of narrow kerf chain . . . how exactly would one categorize .404 gauge? I feel like wide kerf doesn't quite capture the magnitude...
