Ok, when if I get this thing, I'll come back and you can all walk me thru the bleed valve.

I kind of like the exercise from swinging the mauls, almost feel like it's too much of a short cut to use a splitter.

I don't feel that way at all, I get enough exercise during the whole process , besides I get enough exercise busting up the big ones so I can lift them , with hydraulics you can do more work in less time,or work longer, and have less fatigue when you're done .
when I am able to afford it I will get a hold of a gas splitter that will go vertical to make things even easier .
what I have now is a hell of a lot better than hand spitting , IMO

Although, I'd have to haul this thing an acre's width from my garage to the work area. The 7 ton's about a 100 pounds heavier than the homelike 5 ton. How easy is it to move the 7 ton?

Once you get it home you be good to go, It is very easy to move, a large wide tires will roll over the rough stuff easily , and they don't dig in like skinny tire would, that's one of the best features is the large wide tires

So the videos show the harbor freight splitter on a PALLET! There's no way I get a splitter that needs a pallet home easily in my compact sedan.

The homelite at home depot is also about 80 pounds lighter than the harbor freight. Wouldn't that make it more convenient to move haul around the yard?

If it has wheels and is well balanced you likely won't notice the 80 lbs.

The HF model does have a better handle system. Still, 80 lbs is a lot of extra weight when pulling over anything but paved areas.

I love my 5-ton Homelite, 5 years old.

It does have problems with the crotches.
    This year's production.

Read the negative reviews on the HF 7-ton units. A number of people reported problems with the hydraulic connections.

I can load my Homelite into the back of my 1989 Civic Wagon without help. It should fit into the trunk unless you're car is really compact.

Would a lighter unit be easier to move around just rolling it around , no I don't think so, when you consider this size and with of wheels and tires ! if you don't need to lift it .
I have looked at other units extensively , researched and looked at in person but have not had experience using those units , if someone has used the different , models of electric splitters to compare then that would be great .
I am not saying whether you should do this or not but, when ever you buy one of these , there is a trial piered, where you could return it if you like, by the other one and see which one you like and go for that.

MrWhoopie, amazing the 5ton can split that Oak. Nice demo video. The stand and work table saves bending, and your back. Like them a lot.

Electric isn't as fast as a gas splitter, but if you don't need speed it saves you a lot of $$.
