the product we see mostly is the regular duravent sold by the Big Boxes....and it leaks.....why would anyone make a product knowing it leaks like a sieve? So, a guy can buy pipe which is cheaper and leaks, therefore inadequate, or a "better" product from the same company who makes leaky pipe? I dunno......

The stuff I ordered was PVP so hopefully I don't run into too many problems. If I ever get it installed :(

Jay I thought ICC was multi fuel pipe. I hope so, as I am planning on re doing my exhaust vent this spring.

I remember the old stuff with the rope gaskets, it was terrible. We spent more time cutting little 1/2" strips of metal tape to seal every seam than we did painting the pipe or installing it. The new stuff "PVP" seems to be a lot more leak resistant although I wouldn't call it perfect....

I'd still seal the joints, But it was so much easier not having to mess with the seems.

On another note I see Selkirk has a new type on the market. Called PL vent. Looks slick with the ne joint seals.

    http://www.selkirkcorp.com/selkirk/Product.aspx?id=62

I wonder if its any easier than the VP vent. Joint sealing was almost as bad as the old Duravent pellet and corn vent.

Am I saving any space behind the stove by using the adapter tee? Nobody at duravent could really confirm for me. That's the only reason I ordered it but if the adapter and a standard tee stick off the back the same distance I'll just reorder a standard tee since I already have the appliance adapter (came with the stove). I'm trying to keep this install as close to the wall as possible (within minimum clearance of course).

if its anything like the original Duravent product, you'll save 2-3 inches

This is a VERY accurate post. I'd say about 2.5 inches :p depending on how far the adapter can slide onto the exhaust collar. On some stoves the rear shroud limits how far the adapter can slide on, on some it doesn't.

Definitely more than using the adapter and then a regular twist lock tee.

On my hastings the shroud limits how far i can slide the adapter on. Did you happen to get a chance to look for an adapter tee at your shop??

I ordered a PVP part for my stove that does not fit. Too dark to go look for it but I would gladly send it to you for what I paid.

Its a Tee. It has a clean out cap on the bottom. The stove part is 3" and the where it goes to chimney is 4".

Turns out my stove needed 4" on both fittings.

    Let me know SP

Just put it on Ebay. Even working at a stove dealer we are having a hard time getting a lot of these parts right now. I'm not sure if our distributors just had poor planning or not but I bet you sell it for what you paid for it at least.

Thanks anyways WW. I appreciate the offer but i need the 3" version of that.
Duravent dropped the ball big time from what i've been told by numerous dealers. Apparently duravent controls the inventory stock numbers on most websites and failed to changed the "in stock" to "backordered, your gonna be waitin a while!" . I'm not the only person in this boat. The last dealer i spoke with said they have been taking tons of call from PO's customers that ordered an "in stock" product and have now been waiting weeks or months. I still have a possible ship date of 12/22 but who knows if it'll get pushed back again. No rush on looking for it but if you do find it please let me know ;)

Darn right it is . Worst part of it is, a month ago i spoke with the company on the phone and they said the 60" length was in stock but waiting to ship with the tee. They offered to ship it but i couldn't do anything without the tee so i said "nah just ship it with the tee". And now it's magically out of stock. Why oh why did i tell them to ship it with the tee :headbang:. Im about to spend the extra $10 and order a 60" black length but that still wont be here for 5-10 days. :picard:
