I order 60% of what comes into this house on the internet. From nonperishible foods, to TP, clothing, you name it UPS brings it to me. His name is Dave and he is nice as could be. My packages always arrive on different days so the poor guy is way out here in the boonies delivering to me Mon- Fri.

    I was thinking $20 ? doesn't seem like enough......

I was thinking cash in a card taped to door in porch, he even brings the boxes in there for me :)

    thanks

Don't know what UPS policy is but do know that USPS forbids its delivery folks from taking CASH presents. Was watching a segment on the Today show earlier today which commented on $20.00 being a proper amount and suggesting a gift card as the way to go.

Gift card sounds good. Maybe to a fast food or coffee shop.
I give the postal mail lady some nice chocolates. She'll bring my packages in if the don't fit in the mailbox.
Our UPS driver changes every few months. They are good about putting boxes in the porch or garage.
I'm told the post office person can't take anything of value over $20.

If he goes above then a tip is warranted. Leaving things secure is a good gesture on his part. A long time ago I drove for UPS for a season. I made quite a bit in cash tips at Christamas time. But it was almost exclusively from businesses. The only time that homeowners seemed to tip was the blue collar people on payday. Thursday or Friday evening someone might tip a few dollars.

He's getting paid by the hour to bring the packages so don't feel bad that you are making him make the stop. If you didn't order stuff he wouldn't get paid as much. The whatever minutes it takes to get to your place would be absent from his time card. He's probably got one of the better jobs in your area.

I've delivered things to homes and it is amazing sometimes what folks will give. It was always appreciated too. But if you do any baking, some fresh baked goods will still go a long ways and will be appreciated.

Yes WW. Do it, with the amount of deliveries he makes he deserves a tip. In hand would be more personal if you can.

You can give money by getting one of the pre-paid credit cards loaded with 20, 30, 40 or even 50. Whatever you feel comfortable with. The important point is not the amount. If the amount matters, then they don't get the point.
