For the last 10 years I have had insurance with minimal or free blood tests, and I get certain tests often due to my medical issues. My new medical insurance (last policy does not provide coverage in my new state) charges for my routine blood tests. I went a couple weeks ago, I know I owe the money but I was going to pay with a different account than our personal checking. Several hundred dollars . Dear husband checked out at the doc (in a daze from fever etc) and he paid the entire bill, his charge plus my previous bloodwork on our checking debit card. His paychecks for our personal checking are autodeposit, though he was paid on Friday they wont post til midnight this Monday. Meanwhile I have two $30 "courtesy coverage" fees, and more on the way from the bank since that payment emptied our personal checking. Who knows how many more since I have subscribe and save at amazon.... I will call the bank in the morning and see if they can help me out. The money is there, just not posting into our account soon enough!
Most likely the bank will help you out on that one. Although I don't remember how much, I know we set it up with our bank that should we somehow not have enough to cover a check, they simply take enough out of our savings to cover the check. That way there is no charge. I do remember when we did this that my wife had made a $100 mistake in the check register and when we got our statement, there was a charge for overdraft. When we set up to cover that should it happen in the future, they also removed the charge for overdraft without us even asking them to do it. Yes, it is nice to have a good name at a bank!
Can't exactly like that one. My bank offers the same as Savages with the overdraft. They only charge $1. It's always something.
Call and stomp your feet, or better yet go down to the branch and demand everything in your account - they will make you whole on the fees I went through this with BofA when I bought this house, I got a $30 maintenance fee because my balance between checking/savings dropped below 10k threshold(tends to happen with a 40k down payment), and I had sold my previous house that was financed through them so I lost the mortgage exemption. When I walked in and demanded they empty it all in cash, and my Merrill Edge mutual funds(held under the same account) they waived the $30 fee until I had my 10k threshold back. Promptly opened an account at a local credit union and transferred all the money anyways
Sounds about like me when I was younger. Wanted to get a loan but no credit. Had a good account with a bank and a cosigner. Called to see how the process was going and the guy I spoke with chuckled. The manager was none to happy when I showed up took all my money and told her why. Was not a chit ton of money but not just pocket change either.
Years ago a couple of gentlemen wanted to borrow some money from bank"A" which turned them down but bank "B" loaned them the money. Guess who got their business when Amway became succesfull? So the story was told to me. Gary
I left a voicemail this morning, but was gone most of the day, and my voicemail in the boonies does not work, nor caller id 1/2 the time. I think I have overdraft, except savings is empty I wonder if they see I have $ in a money market attached there? And thats why they keep doing $30 courtesy fee coverages? I will call again in the morning. I left a message but then was gone most the day with hubby to doc then back to town for groceries. I sure hope they will make me whole, up to $310 in "courtesy coverage"
I can do that. And with my work experience I think I can still do it gracefully and convincingly. I will update for sure
My bank refunded the ENTIRE amount Good thing, as one of the $30 fees was for an item from amazon that cost $1.79. I didn't even have to stomp. Wyoming peeps are nice
Glad it worked out for you. There were a few banks (including BofA) that got in trouble for the way they timed overdrafts - buy a $2 coffee in the am, an 8$ lunch, $40 in gas, and then buy some larger item that sent them over in the evening, they'd post the large purchase first and ding them for all subsequent small charges
I have used a credit union for 35 years without problems. Nice thing is they post as soon as they receive it, night or day. Always viewable on the net. Any checks come out just as fast. Almost never use checks. If I get one, I can scan them in to my account with y smart phone. I really like not having to run around much anymore. On line banking and shopping. I still do HD, Lowes, TSC and the dump runs. The furthest run is about 7 miles.
Wrong letter to open on the first day of the new year. Hubby's plan w lil one as dependent going up $450/ month for premiums as well as a hefty increase in the deductable. This is additional to the several hundred dollar increase in premiums from last year. I sure am glad we have a smaller mortgage now, but the idea was to save that $$, not spend it.
I want to comment so bad, but out of respect to Scotty, I will bite my tongue and keep my happy political thoughts on healthcare to myself.
