Great pics. Looks like you have some work to do there! This last wind storm we had did a number at my place too. I keep finding more down every time I'm back there. I kinda feel like thewoodlands too! Wonder how he's doing over there!
Next year.............................If I buy a "non-resident" deer tag..............................can I hunt your place??
I'm surprised you don't have snow cover. Also, how do you ever have any garden with all those pet deer hanging around the house?
We had some deer at my previous home that would come to our deck and ask for apples. Interestingly all does, it was adorable when they fawns too.
Looks like a lot of under brush growing up too. Hope it's not green briers, they'll shred you . Perfect cutting weather & conditions. Looks like near a months worth cut already, Hope the weather holds, don't need any ice & snow so you can find a reason to slip & fall , AGAIN ! LOL Can tell by your posts & pictures you are feeling better, Seems there's a little spring in you step, must be feeling years younger. Being outdoors & cutting wood is good medicine for you & Judy. Hard work but fun rewarding work, got a good pace going. Steady as she goes ! Neighbor gonna be able to help at all ?
That sounds close to perfect to me. I have 7 acres, mostly wooded, but would love to have more! To be able to cut solely on your own land would be great!
Fence, my friend. 5' will do the trick. In the last 7 years we've had exactly one deer get in. Then it appeared she couldn't find the way to get out and ran into the fence several times. Finally made it out though. I'd have liked to seen that one but it was done in the dark. As for the snow cover, we've had some sunny days and tempertures in the 30's. But even then, we've not had much snow at all. The deepest it has been was probably 1 1/2".
There is a lot of prickly ash in there. It is thick; hard to get in and out with atv and trailer. Lots of deer beds and also found some bones where one died. Perfect weather indeed! I haven't enjoyed cutting in this type weather for a long time. Wish I could do more but enjoy what I can do. No, it does not look like he'll be able to help but that is okay. We'll get it done. If not, some friends have already offered assistance.
Backwoods Savage, when working in the woods together, is Judy still the boss or are you? @judyistheboss.com
Part of the outdoor experience is stopping to smell the roses, noticing the deer beds, & various other critter signs, various plants etc.>>> Few take time to enjoy those things, I remember going into the woods with Dad, he showed me lots of that stuff, signs of owls, squirrels , roost trees ..>>> , different plants ...etc.>>> Maybe that's why I still enjoy being out there, sit stop & look. Lots going on if you take the time to observe. Bet you know your woods well !
